Led by center Liz Cambage with a career-high of 37 points, the Dallas Wings (8-8) defeated the Chicago Sky (6-11) 108-85 on Tuesday at College Park Center.

"Happy to get the win, hungry for a win and that’s how we played,” Cambage said. “We were a bit slower defensively but we stepped it up in the second half.”

Chicago opened up the game, putting up the first two points. Power forward scored the first points for Dallas with a long range 3-pointer in the opening minutes of the first quarter to get the team rolling. The teams went back-and-forth until Dallas took the lead in the final seconds of the first as an alley-oop layup from Azura Stevens made it 28-26.

Fourteen out of the team's 28 points were scored by Cambage who went 6-8 from the field.

The Wings maintained the lead throughout the second quarter but it was a neck-and-neck battle. Despite Dallas getting the upper hand, shooting 56.4 percent from the field while Chicago shot 45 percent, the pair broke even for a 23-23 quarter, but Dallas still led at the break 51-49.

Cambage put up 21 points and five rebounds in the first half to lead all scorers.

“I thought the first half we, you know, didn’t really show up like we should have, I thought the second half, we stepped up the defensive a little bit,” head coach Fred Williams said.

Dallas jumped ahead to start the third quarter with a 3-pointer from point guard Skylar Diggins- Smith, her first bucket of the game. Diggins-Smith scored 18 of her 20 points in the third, leading the Wings to a 11-2 run in the opening minutes of the half. The duo of Cambage and Diggins-Smith put up a combined 28 in the quarter to lift up Dallas 83-68 heading into the fourth.

The Wings cruised through the fourth quarter with 8-0 run to put the game out of reach for Chicago, 108-85. Cambage finished the game with 37 points, 10 rebounds, four assists. With the help of Cambage's career performance, the Wings notched their second-highest scoring game in franchise history.

The Wings play their next game against at 7 p.m. Thursday at College Park Center.
