- Shotover CTA - Thames & Cherwell at Oxford CTA

The Thames and Cherwell at Oxford CTA is one of the two CTAs in the Oxford East Constituency. It is characterised by riverside land along the Thames and Cherwell at Oxford and extends from Kennington in the south to Botley in the West and as far the A40 at Marston in the east. The Habitats of importance to Biodiversity within the CTA are: Prepared by TVERC 11/04/2018 Page 1 • Lowland Meadows: This is the main habitat in the area. There are species rich meadows at and Marston, which are Sites of Species Scientific Interest (SSSI). Magdalen Meadow, St Hilda’s College Meadow and Lower Farm Meadow are Local Wildlife Sites. • Wet grassland/fen/swamp/reedbed: Parts of Iffley Meadows are wet grassland and there is also fen and swamp habitat here. Several of the meadows along the Cherwell and Thames have wet grassland habitat and there some areas of swamp, including Longbridges Nature Park and Burnt Mill Meadows. Long Meadow supports swamp habitat and there is a reed bed at Fiddler’s Island. There is also a rich fen flush at Almonds Farm Field.

Public Access: Riverside paths including the Thames Path. There is a nature reserve at Iffley and nature parks at Botley, Longbridges, Aston’s Eyot and The Kidneys.
