Set against the backdrop of 19th- Sales Director century France, this musical phenomenon tells an enthralling story of broken Brieanna Bright, Joey Chapman, dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice, and redemption, and is a timeless Ann Manning testament to the survival of the human spirit. German-born British composerMax Richter performs with the Art Director American Contemporary Music Ensemble, while the Grammy Award-winning Gemma Wilson, Jonathan Zwickel Soweto Gospel Choir honors the 100th birthday of Nelson Mandela. Balkan Senior Editors virtuoso Goran Bregovíc, Malian singer Fatoumata Diawara, and Icelandic multi- Amanda Manitach instrumentalist Ólafur Arnalds perform concerts featuring music from their latest Visual Arts Editor albums. Music industry icons Mavis Staples and Zakir Hussain take the stage at The Moore Theatre, and a special concert honoring the work of Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway comes to The Neptune. We also welcome back Black Violin, as well as the Monterey Jazz Festival on Tour with star Cécile McLorin Salvant. Paul Heppner STG offers two exciting theater productions next season with Barber Shop President Chronicles, which explores the significant role barber shops play in African Mike Hathaway culture, and Roger Guenveur Smith’s Frederick Douglass Now, inspired by Vice President abolitionist and pioneering feminist Frederick Douglass. Kajsa Puckett Vice President, Snap Judgment LIVE and Radiolab’s Jad Abumrad’s The Miracle of Indoor Marketing & Business Development Plumbing offer shared experiences and personal storytelling, and two inventive Genay Genereux holiday performances include The Hip Hop Nutcracker featuring Kurtis Blow—a Accounting & Office Manager retelling of the classic tale that includes all-star dancers, a violinist and DJ—and A Magical Cirque Christmas. Shaun Swick Senior Designer & Digital Lead Our ever-popular Silent Movie Mondays features a Views of the World Series; Barry Johnson a special presentation of the dystopian filmThe City Without Jews, with score Digital Engagement Specialist performed by Music of Remembrance; and a screening of the 1927 horror- Ciara Caya comedy The Cat and The Canary.
