Annex I: Attached Table ............................................................................................................................ 48 Annex II: Map Indication of Projects in Anhui.......................................................................................... 56 2 World Bank Financed China Agro-tech Project (Phase II), Anhui Social Assessment Chapter 1 Summary of Project Design and Execution in Anhui Section 1 Background of Projects in Anhui There are 14 established projects in Anhui under the World Bank Financed China Agro-tech Demonstration & Popularization Project, involving 13 districts/cities in Anhui, including 7 planting projects, 5 breeding projects, 2 projects undertaken by associations and 2 technical popularization projects undertaken by the government. Anhui now has a total area of 139,000km2, governs 17 cities (district level cities), 5 county level cities, 56 counties and 44 municipal districts. Anhui is a major agricultural province, where agriculture accounts for a great portion in its economy. As planned in the “Strategic Objectives, Steps of Anhui for Full Construction of Well-off Society and Key Constructions Tasks at the Initial Stage”, the province will further adjust its agricultural structure, highlight stockbreeding and efficient cash crops, and construct 10 major production and supply bases of quality farm products, including special wheat, paddy rice, cotton, “double-low” rape, tealeaf, peanut, vegetable, animal meat, bee products and aquatic products. 11 companies and 2 professional associations in Anhui have participated in the construction of the project. To increase the technological level and ensure the successful execution of the project, each subproject is in cooperation with a province-level or above scientific research institute or university. As technical support units of the project, over 10 research institutes of the 3 province-level scientific research institutes—Anhui Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Anhui Agricultural University and Anhui Institute of Forest Sciences—have experts across nearly 40 disciplines (seed cultivation, cultivation, plant protection, gardening, clay fertilizer, biotechnology, stockbreeding, veterinary, agricultural economy) involved in the project, of which above 75% have a senior title and most are middle-aged or young. The projects are mainly distributed in poor areas in Anhui, involving 13 districts/cities out of 17 ones province-wide. Nearly 100,000 farmers participate in the project. Industries of the subprojects are mainly planting, stockbreeding or farm product processing, such as planting flower/sapling, peanut, tealeaf, chicken raising, cattle raising, sheep raising, etc. These are activities suitable for women. Accordingly, all the subprojects can absorb a great number of women for employment, which will help improve the income and social status of women. Chapter 2 Project and Interest Groups I. Guangde Quality Nuisance-free Chicken Breeding Demonstration Project 1. Affected Farmers and Project The affected area of Liudong Town in Guangde County is situated north of the county town and is a major planting and stockbreeding town in Gangfan District; Baidian Town is located south of the county town and is a poorer town in Guangde. The total area of the project demonstration zone is 290km2, governing 60 administrative villages. The project demonstration zone investigated—Zhaocun Village in Qiucun Town, Guangde County—has a total population of 2715 people, 703 families, 1.1mu per capita paddy field, 17500mu tilled land (including barren hill), mainly planting rape, sweet potato, paddy rice, villagers’ per capita annual income is about 1700yuan, this is a poorer village in the town. Farmers are far away from each other, which is convenient for chicken raising (prevention of dissemination of fowl pest), but the traffic is inconvenient. It has created “Ningguo Miracle” since 1990s. Its general economic capacity has been ranked #1 (the first) among all the counties or cities in Anhui Province since 2000. In order to analyze the influencing factors of competitive advantages of Ningguo City and explain “Ningguo Miracle”, this article have evaluated, analyzed and classified the general economic competitiveness of 61 counties (cities) in Anhui Province in 2004, by 14 indexes of evaluation index system. The result showed that compared with other counties (cities) in Anhui Province, Ningguo City has more advantages in competition. The competitive advantage of Ningguo City is due to the productivities, the effect of the second industry and industry, and the investment of fixed assets. Then the influencing factors of Ningguo’s competitiveness in terms of productivity were analyzed with authoritative data since 1990 and a log linear regression model was established by stepwise regression method. The results demonstrated that the key influencing factor of Ningguo City’s competitive advantage was the change of industry structure, especially the change of manufacture structure.

This database, containing the human prevalence of schistosomiasis at the village level from 2001 to 2004, was analyzed by directional trend analysis supported with ArcGIS 9.0 to select the optimum predictive approach. Based on the approach selected, different strata of prevalence were classified and the spatial distribution of human infection with Schistosoma japonicum was estimated. The second-order ordinary kriging approach of spatial analysis was found to be optimal for prediction of human prevalence of S. japonicum infection. The mean prediction error was close to 0 and the root-mean-square standardised error was close to 1. Starting with the different environmental settings for each stratum of transmission, four areas were classified according to human prevalence, and different strategies to control transmission of schistosomiasis were put forward.

Abstract. In this paper, Anhui Agricultural University is taken as an example to study how Anhui dialects influence the English pronunciation of students. The different pronunciation characteristics of Anhui dialects are collected and summarized in this paper. A phonetic test based on the international phonetics is comprehensively designed for the collection of students’ pronunciation. Through contrasts and analysis, the specific influences that Anhui dialects exert on students are discovered, which will help a lot in the improvement of student’s pronunciation. Relevant Studies about the Influence of Chinese on English Pronunciation Language variety is the basic unit studying language in sociolinguistics. The British linguist R.A. Hudson defines language variety as a set of linguistic items with similar to social distribution [1]. This set of linguistic items can be the whole phonetics, grammar and lexical system, and also the component or rule of certain word or grammar [2]. Dialect is the branch and variety of a language and can be divided into regional dialect and social dialect [3]. From 1930s to 1940s, scholars in China, such as Zhao Yuanren, had already started the comparison of Chinese and English phonetics, from then on, Chinese and English phonetics difference became an important field in contrastive study of Chinese and English.

The results of the lead isotope analysis showed that there were two kinds of lead materials in the Zongyang bronzes. Class which could have originated from the Wannan region were mainly used in the Western Zhou and the following Spring and Autumn periods; while Class , possibly from the local mines in Zongyang County, were mainly present in the Warring States period. Such a shift in the ore material sources is also revealed by the analysis of the trace elements of the Zongyang bronzes. With reference to relevant historical documents, it can be inferred that the transformation of the bronze material sources could be related to the changes of the political situation during the Zhou Dynasty.

Results: The prevalence of chronic pain was 49.8%. The legs/feet (25.5%), back (23.2%), and neck/shoulder (14.6%) were the most salient locations for chronic pain.

In June 1992, more than 150 countries including China had jointly signed the "Pact of Biological Diversity". Domestic animal genetic resources are an important component of biological diversity, precious resources formed through long-term evolution, and also the closest and most direct part of relation with human beings. Therefore, in order to realize a sustainable, stable and high-efficient animal production, it is of great significance to meet even higher demand for animal and poultry product varieties and quality by human society, strengthen conservation, and effective, rational and sustainable utilization of animal and poultry genetic resources. The "Report on Domestic Animal Genetic Resources in China" (hereinafter referred to as the "Report") was compiled in accordance with the requirements of the "World Status of Animal Genetic Resource " compiled by the FAO. The Ministry of Agriculture" (MOA) has attached great importance to the compilation of the Report, organized nearly 20 experts from administrative, technical extension, research institutes and universities to participate in the compilation team. There were eleven projects in Brazil, fourteen projects in China, and one project each in Ghana, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Peru, the Russian Federation, and Serbia.2 Four projects that closed before 2012 received additional investments in 2012. They were in Armenia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam. Total investment commitments (hereafter, investment, all in US$ unless otherwise indicated) in water and Public Disclosure Authorized sewerage projects amounted to $4 billion this year, up 50 percent from 2011. Of this amount, $3.9 billion was invested in new projects, while projects that closed before 2012 received additional investments worth $178 million. Three large Brazilian concessions (two sewerage collection and treatment plants, one water utility with sewerage) attracted nearly $2.5 billion, which accounted for most of the increase in investments in 2012.
