Back in September of 2016, I wrote about how my young friend Jackson Bowen beat neuroblastoma cancer. You might remember that I wrote about how I, along with other current and retired SFPD officers worked together with the SF 49ers' to help Jackson celebrate his victory of beating cancer. My friendship with Jackson started with another cancer fighting warrior. Back in January of 2015, I sat in my home and read an article about a 4 year old named Colten Guerra who was battling stage 4 neuroblastoma cancer. This type of cancer typically affects kids 5 years of age and younger. In the article, Colten wore an Incredible Hulk costume and flashed an infectious smile. I began to follow Colten on his website teamhulken.org. In January of 2015, Officer Ferdinand Dimaposac and I met Colten for the first time at UCSF Children’s Benioff Hospital. We showered him with police memorabilia including a baseball cap, replica badge, stickers and of course a Hulk action figure. Shortly after meeting I wanted to lift his spirits and do Colten at the hospital, I met him again something special for him.
