Charles Brown took first in the men’s long jump with his fifth leap of 7.89m/25- 10.75. To notch a top-10 Texas Tech record in the women’s pentathlon, Kaylee Hinton tallied a personal-best 4025 point performance to snag her event win. Darien Tennon collected a win in the men’s 60-meter hurdle finals at a 7.86 pace. Zarriea Willis was the last to claim her crown in the women’s high jump. Willis completed the competition at a 1.82m/5-11.50 clearance. Last year’s meet also allowed the men to earn their highest indoor point total in program history at 99.5 for third-place. TOPPING THE RANKS For the third week in a row, the Red Raiders have achieved their highest ranking in program history, staying No. 1 for the past two weeks. The first time a Texas Tech program was ranked number one was the Lady Raider Basketball team on January 12th of 2004. The Lady Raiders remained No. 1 the next week, making the track program the second to be ranked first in back-to-back weeks since then. This nationally leading position was achieved from their 20 marks ranked within the top-25 nationally in their respective categories. Seven of these ath- letes are ranked in more than one event. Drew McMichael was the newest addi- tion to the Texas Tech performance list with his 18-foot clearance in the men’s pole vault. McMichael matched Bray’s performance of 5.50m/18-0.5 from the previous week, to notch his name as the No. 2 ranked Texas Tech performance. This bar also sits in the No. 10 nationally ranked postion. C.J. Jones was the second name added to the list, with a 1:48.98, converted to 1:48.67 at altitude, 800-meter run. Jones’ race was ranked first on the USTFCCCA top-10 perfor- mances from the weekend. WATCH LIST Senior high jumper Trey Culver and freshman sprinter Divine Oduduru are among the 10 male names in the NCAA that currently reside on The Bowerman mid-indoor watch list. This marks the first time in program history that two Red Raider names have made an appearance on the watch list for this award at the same time. Culver, a Lubbock native, has fully absorbed the home-crowd advantage at the new Sports Performance Center, bringing in school record per- formances from both of his competitions this year... his best being 2.33m/7-7.75 from the Corky Classic home opener. This mark sits first in the nation and fourth in the world. Oduduru has also grown fawn of the facility, bringing in five Texas Tech all-time record performances, two of which were in his first-ever indoor 200m performances. The most recent was Oduduru’s 20.18 200m win, securing both a world and nation lead. ON THE DOCKET After the Big 12 Championship, the Red Raiders will have a week to rest before taking all qualifying athletes to the NCAA Indoor Championships in College Sta- tion, Texas, on March 9-10.
