The first addition was Kaylee Hinton in her first pentathlon performance of 2018. The junior racked up 4,025 points overall, claiming the No. 8 all-time spot. This total was one point short of her personal best from last year’s Big 12 Indoor Championship. Hinton’s performance is ranked eighth in the nation. Clark Griffith also took part in his first multi-event performance for the Red Raiders, notching a No. 6 all-time heptathlon mark of 5,048 points to claim fourth place at the meet. Trey Culver showed out for his hometown for the second time, this time earning the No. 2 Texas Tech high jump record with his second-best lifetime clearance of 2.30m/7-6.50. This fin- ish earned Culver the No. 7 globally ranked position. Zarriea Willis took the reins yet again in the women’s high jump. Willis matched her school record height of 1.85m/6-0.75 to earn a first-place finish and a second-place nationally ranked position. Vincent Crisp claimed his second personal-best and top-10 Texas Tech mark this season, this time in the 800m. Crisp paced a 1:48.01 run, converted to 1:47.70 at altitude, which is the sixth-fastest time in the world this year. Crisp’s mark ranks second in the nation. It also holds as the fifth fastest time in Texas Tech history, beating out Jonathan Johnson’s time of 1:48.42 from the NCAA Championships in 2005. TOPPING THE RANKS The men have compiled 16 top-25 nationally ranked marks this season, ulti- mately earning their No. 5 spot in the USTFCCCA team rankings. Five of these entries are top-three marks, most recently tacked onto by junior Vincent Crisp. Last weekend at the Texas Tech Classic & Multis, Crisp snagged a No. 5 all-time Texas Tech 800m mark, which sits sixth in the world. Starting off these marks with the first ranked 2.33m/7-7.75 high jump bar in the United States and third- ranked in the world was senior high jumper Trey Culver. Culver made his mark again at his second meet, inking his name in the No. 2 all-time spot at 2.30m/7- 6.50. This second-highest clearance by Culver ranks seventh in the world, and his progression claimed three of this week’s top-10 high jump marks. Also lead- ing with a first-place mark is Charles Brown in the men’s long jump. Brown hit a No. 2 all-time distance of 8.03m/26-4.35 to claim an indoor personal best and a world lead. Brown is also ranked third nationally in the triple jump, holding this spot with a leap of 16.03m/52-2.75. Oduduru is the last top-three mark, ranking second in the nation and the world with his 20.49 200-meter record-breaking performance. ON THE DOCKET Next up, the Red Raiders will host the Texas Tech Shootout on February 9-10.
