  • Mobile Testing Cambuslang/Rutherglen Area
People from Cambuslang are being encouraged to get a Covid test as the area is seeing a rise in cases To help identify cases, and control the spread, people can collect a testing kit at Newton Farm community wing from 3.30pm to 6pm tonight (Friday 21 May) Dr Jackie Hyland, NHS Lanarkshire Consultant in Health Protection, said: “We need your help to make sure we keep infections down in your area. “I would strongly encourage people from Drumsagard and the wider Cambuslang to get a Covid test. The more the virus spreads undetected, the greater chance new variants can take hold.” With Cambuslang being close to the south of Glasgow, and the prevalence of the new Indian variant, it is vital for people to get tested to help detect the strain and to identify how the virus is being passed from person to person. People can also get a test at the Mobile Test Units - currently located at Eastfield Lifestyles Monday to Friday 9.30am-2.30pm and 9.30am-5.30pm Saturdays and Sundays and Blantyre Leisure Centre Monday to Sunday 9.30am-5.30pm. Appointments for those with or without symptoms can be made by visiting the NHS Lanarkshire website or by calling 0800 028 2816. If you do not have any symptoms of COVID-19, you can go along to the Asymptomatic Testing Site at Larkhall Leisure Centre without an appointment Dr Jackie Hyland added: “No one wants restrictions to be put back in place. So be careful and think about where you are going to and what you are doing “Children may be back at school but they should not be having sleepovers or parties.

VI. CAMBUSLANQ: SOME NOTES ON ITS EARLY LORDS—THE BARONS OF DRUMSARGARD, AND OTHER LANDOWNERS. BY JOSEPH BAIN, F.S.A. SOOT. The history of this parish, like that of many others, is yet to be written, and now that the public records are being made fully accessible by Government e materialth , e graduallar s y gatheree futurth r efo d historian. Hitherto any one writing on such subjects, especially when treating of the succession to land—always an interesting chapter of parochial history—has been generally obliged to resort for his authorities to old peerage and other books, often full of gross errors. These reflections occurred to me in lately reading an excellent essay, " Cambuslang . BrownT . T People e Sketc a ,. Plac, th e J d th y b f ,ehan o Glasgow, 1884." The account of the early landowners,1 drawn from Crawfurd's Peerage (voee Bothwell), is however so incorrect, that it is worth while placin e trugth e account from actual recor connectea n di d form. I do not know what ground Crawfurd had for saying that Walter Olifard, justiciar of Lothian in the reign of Alexander II., owned the barony of Drumsargard. • South Lanarkshire M74 Local Strategic Routes
South Lanarkshire M74 local strategic routes Advanced traffic direction signs have been erected to reflect the recommended routes for drivers wishing to access the M74 Completion from either the Cambuslang or Rutherglen area. The following descriptions can be read in conjunction with the local strategic route plan, below. Polmadie Road Junction (Yellow Route) is recommended for drivers accessing the M74 generally from the west of Main Street (Rutherglen) and adjacent areas such as Bankhead, Fernhill and Spittal. • Vehicles should access onto Mill Street (A730) and progress in a northerly direction passing the junction with Main Street, Rutherglen and onto Glasgow Road (A730). Vehicles should continue northwest along Glasgow Road becoming Rutherglen Road (A730) and proceed until it meets the new M74 junction at Polmadie Road. Cambuslang Road Junction (Orange Route) is recommended for drivers accessing the M74 generally from the east of Main Street (Rutherglen) and west of Main Street (Cambuslang) and adjacent areas such as Cathkin, Eastfield, Farmecross, High Burnside and Whitlawburn. • Due to the planned prohibition of ‘Right Turns' into Farmeloan Road for westbound vehicles using Main Street (Rutherglen), vehicles using this section of Main Street should instead travel east along Main Street (B768) towards Richmond Laundry roundabout. Vehicles should then turn left into Cambuslang Road (A724) and continue in a northwest direction to meet the Cambuslang Road Junction. • Vehicles to the north of the M74 should access onto Cambuslang Road (A724) and progress in a southeast direction until it meets the Cambuslang Road Junction. • Vehicles travelling from the south west of the Cambuslang Road Junction should access onto East Kilbride Road/Stonelaw Road (A749) and progress in a northerly direction passing below the M74.
