    People from Cambuslang are being encouraged to get a Covid test as the area is seeing a rise in cases To help identify cases, and control the spread, people can collect a testing kit at Newton Farm community wing from 3.30pm to 6pm tonight (Friday 21 May) Dr Jackie Hyland, NHS Lanarkshire Consultant in Health Protection, said: “We need your help to make sure we keep infections down in your area. “I would strongly encourage people from Drumsagard and the wider Cambuslang to get a Covid test. The more the virus spreads undetected, the greater chance new variants can take hold.” With Cambuslang being close to the south of Glasgow, and the prevalence of the new Indian variant, it is vital for people to get tested to help detect the strain and to identify how the virus is being passed from person to person. People can also get a test at the Mobile Test Units - currently located at Eastfield Lifestyles Monday to Friday 9.30am-2.30pm and 9.30am-5.30pm Saturdays and Sundays and Blantyre Leisure Centre Monday to Sunday 9.30am-5.30pm. Appointments for those with or without symptoms can be made by visiting the NHS Lanarkshire website or by calling 0800 028 2816.
