The Institute provides a link between teaching and scientific research in the fields of art history and church and general history. Special emphasis is placed on inter-disciplinary connection between art history and related subjects including his- tory, church history, auxiliary history sciences, archaeology, Christian iconography and liturgy.

ACTIVITIES OF THE INSTITUTE STAFF The staff is involved in teaching in Bachelor, Magister and Doctoral study programmes covering History of Christian Art, History of European Culture and Church and General History. Teachers give lectures and lead seminars, organise study journeys round monuments both in the Czech Republic and abroad, and together with students organize exhibitions.

They can offer qualified leading of seminars focused on paintings and art history, guided tours of monuments and galleries in Czech, English or Italian, spe- cialist advice in heraldry, noble families and religious orders as well as confirmations of authenticity of art works.
