Ø 1898 – June 5 - Foundation of First laid by Dunne – cost £500 - Fr Hegarty PP of Red Hill – known as Church of the Holy Rosary - opened for worship in December 1898 – situated on site of present brick church – entrance facing Given Terrace – opened 11 December

Ø 1907 – March 10 – Archbishop Dunne laid the Foundation stone of the second, larger Church [situated on the corner of Fernberg Road and Given Terrace with the entrance facing Given Terrace] – cost ₤1000 - opened June 23 1907 – Fr William Lee PP

Ø 1914 - Presbytery built

Ø 1917 - June 17 - Foundation stone of present brick church laid by Archbishop Duhig

Ø 1918 - June 16 - present brick church dedicated by His Excellency Archbishop Cattaneo - George Henry Addison [Architect] – first church was moved across Fernberg Road to Herbert’s Paddock – became the inaugural Parish school building where the Mercy Sisters taught until it became the ’ School building in 1929

Dean W Lee PP Also on July 29, Foundation stone of new Mercy School in Given Terrace laid 1929 Ø January 20 – blessing and official opening of Monastery of the Marist Brothers at Rosalie by Archbishop J Duhig [Dean Lee, Br Osmund, Br Campion, Br Athanasius, Br Denis representing the Provincial in attendance] Architect – George Frederick Addison Ø January 20 – Mercy Girls School blessed and opened by Archbishop J Duhig Ø January 21 – Brothers took possession of the Monastery Ø January 28 – school opened in old wooden first Parish church[ which had been moved to present site in 1918] – 135 students enrolled [Grades 4 upwards and mostly from the Parish School] – Br Osmund Rice [Director] – temperature was 100 -110 degrees F – no blackboards, no protection from the elements on the verandah and no playground John Sweeney was the first enrolled student Ø by end of February 175 students – Hugh Tully taken on as first boarder at the house to help provide financial assistance for the Brothers’ budget Ø March – students performed two drills at St Patrick’s Day Concert Ø April 10 – approved as a Secondary School Ø May – Father Lee [P.P.] became Monsignor Ø July – Br Leopold Smith appointed to staff Ø 1st Scholarship class [5 pupils]- Dave Brimson, John Bermingham, George Jones, Ø Terence Corkran, James Silk

1940 Ø 120 day boys and all boarders transferred to 1947 St Mary’s College Ashgrove [currently Ø July 9 - old school [first church] sold at known as Marist College Ashgrove] – public auction for ₤250 – demolished three opened 29/01/1940 weeks later – students dispersed to other Ø 351 students enrolled at Rosalie areas of the campus – top floor of the Ø Governor’s Cup – donated by His Excellency “Cottage” and local Convent school. Junior Sir Leslie Orme Wilson – for Culture, and Sub-Junior classes were held in the Leadership and Boxing – D O’Reilly was the recreation room and on the verandah of the first winner.
