One tradition, one culture The company, founded in 1893, is located in Delémont in the Swiss Jura region. The majority of its 200 employees are residents of the area, which is also home to various high-precision industries (watchmaking, machine tools, microtechnology, microelectronics...). 25 In 2009, Wenger became the title sponsor of the international event also known as “the last wild race”. This event is now called the “WENGER PATAGONIAN EXPEDITION RACE®”. PATAGONIA PATAGONIA This is the only adventure race worldwide that has been granted an official partnership by an Olympic Committee. The official event’s logo carries Wenger’s famous Swiss flag emblem.

The WENGER PATAGONIAN EXPEDITION RACE® (WPER) is a true expedition! Taking teams of four through unknown territories, the racers receive minimal assistance as they travel through pristine southern Patagonia in Chile, by means of trekking, climbing, kayaking, mountain biking, and back country navigation. They often cover hundreds of kilometres without seeing a single soul.

Each Patagonian race features a unique route. In February 2010, the eighth Patagonian Expedition Race was held on the island of Tierra del Fuego, one of Patagonia’s most southern and remote areas. The 600km+ journey across the Land of Fire became the most southern race in the history of adventure racing, taking competitors through the majestic white-capped mountains of the Darwin Range and the freezing waters of the legendary Beagle Channel.

For the first time ever the Wenger trophy was retained by a British team after six and a half days gruelling non-stop racing which saw more than half the field of fourteen competitors fail to finish due to extreme weather conditions and the exacting nature of the event. The British Team finished in 126 hours and 8 minutes - over 16 hours ahead of the second placed finishers from Spain.

Thanks to the continued support of Wenger, maker of the genuine Swiss Army knife and precision outdoor equipment, up to 60 international athletes have had the opportunity to take on the most rugged and diverse challenge known to expedition racing.

EvoWood is the latest in the growing Evolution series first created by Wenger in 2005.

EVOWOOD The handles for each of these pocket knives are constructed from sustainable top quality walnut using what would otherwise be waste material from other production processes. The natural walnut, which is durable for light outdoor use, is coloured in a rich dark stain to create individual shades and grain patterns in each knife, making every product a one-off.
