Greg Chambers won two of the events and was positioned at the head of the field coming into the final event of the year in Fota. Unfortunately this date clashed with a hockey fixture that Greg was due to play in with UCC. The much anticipated head to head with Rory O’Neill never materialised. The course was in great condition and it was a beautiful hot autumn day. This led to impressive scoring with Gordon winning with 39 points. The day was not without its controversy however. There was some confusion over Rory’s and Keith’s ball on the sixteenth. A life long friendship could have been in jeopardy had the two dropped points suffered by Rory cost him the Player of the Year competition! As it happened Rory had a couple of points to spare and emerged as winner once again. It turned out to be a father son combination for the remaining two prizes in the order of merit.
