Immortal, invisible, God only wise, In light inaccessible hid from our eyes, Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days, Almighty, victorious, thy great name we praise.

Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light, Nor wanting, nor wasting, thou rulest in might; Thy justice like mountains high soaring above Thy clouds which are fountains of goodness and love.

To all life thou givest to both great and small; In all life thou livest, the true life of all; We blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree, And wither and perish but nought changeth thee.

Great Father of glory, pure Father of light, Thine angels adore thee, all veiling their sight; All laud we would render: O help us to see 'Tis only the splendour of light hideth thee. Words based on 1 Timothy 1:17 W.Chalmers Smith (1824-1908) Music: Welsh hymn melody

Dr. Peter Mackie is a Senior Lecturer at Cardiff University and an advisor on homelessness policy to government across the UK. Prior to his role at the university, he was a Senior Research Officer for Shelter Cymru, a charity which helps thousands of people every year who are struggling with bad housing or homelessness.

Dr. Mackie is one of the UK's leading and most impactful experts on homelessness and is seen as the leading authority in a range of areas. Recent changes in homelessness legislation have directly been informed by Peter’s work, including the Mackie Review in Wales, and most recently he played a crucial role in the development detail of the Homelessness Reduction Act in England.

Peter also undertakes research with some of the poorest informal economy workers across the globe and he has worked in more than ten developing countries across three continents.

Children and young people have been a key focus in Peter's informal economy studies and his housing and homelessness research. In all of Peter's research he has sought to understand the experiences of people in poverty from their own perspectives.

His research has been funded by a range of organisations, including the Welsh Government, local authorities, the Big Lottery, Joseph Rowntree Foundation and the British Academy. Peter is currently the FEANTSA Research advisor for the UK and convenor of the Wales Institute of Social and Economic Research, Data and Methods (WISERD) Housing Research Network. Artwork
