The Bibliography is divided into two sections. Chapter I lists the publications of the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and the Minnesota Geological Survey (MGS). Publications which deal with a specific area are listed by area within the six DNR regions of Minnesota. These are followed by the listing of USGS and MGS publications of a general nature which deal with all of Minnesota. Chapter II contains publications from many organizations, individuals and journals. It is divided loosely into subject categories, and an index is provided at the end of the document to help locate additional subjects. -

LUGN2 liincoln, Nebraska ABSTRACT Sioux quartzite, granite, and schistose metamorphic rocks have been recognized in the pre-Cambrian. The present irregularities, the "basins and highs," on the pre- Cambrian surface are the result of erosion and a long structural history. In general succeedingly younger rocks rest unconformably by overlap against the pre-Cambrian "highs." The principal erosional and structural "highs" are: the "Nemaha moun tains," the Cambridge anticline, the Chadron dome, and the Sioux Falls area. "Basins," or saddle-like depressions, occur on the pre-Cambrian surface between the "highs." The largest of these trends from southeast to northwest across the central part of Nebraska. The history of each ridge or "high" is more or less individualistic, but it seems certain that the structural framework of Nebraska came into existence in late pre-Cambrian time and has dominated the structural and depositional history of the state ever since. -

Abstract (Limit: 200 words) The Buffalo aquifer is the principal source of ground-water supplies in the Moorhead, Minnesota area. The aquifer is an elongate, narrow deposit of sand and gravel, which locally contains water under confined conditions. Although the Buffalo aquifer contains about 270 billion gallons of water in storage, only 120 billion gal lons could be withdrawn. Largest well yields occur along the deep trough in the center of the aquifer. Induced streambed infiltration may be possible in certain areas where the stream overlies the aquifer and where the intervening lake sediments are thin or absent. -
