The Guthrie Wing, King's College Hospital, Denmark Hill, London The Guthrie Wing, King’s College Hospital, Denmark Hill, London SE5 9RS Based in London, King’s College Hospital is a prestigious international teaching hospital with a long history of clinical excellence. Since its foundation in 1840 it has been associated with the advancement of medical science and patient care across many specialties. King’s International provides access to the exceptional clinical services available at the hospital to both private and overseas patients through dedicated facilities. King's International is the private patient service of King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and most of the private facilities are housed in an attractive Art Deco building, called the Guthrie Wing. How to find the Guthrie Wing The Guthrie Wing is a stand-alone Art Deco building on the main hospital campus. The main entrance is on Denmark Hill – just up the hill from the Accident & Emergency Department (it is marked in pink on the attached map). How to find King’s College Hospital King’s is in Camberwell, South London. Parking in the area is limited, so you may wish to consider using taxis or public transport. Taxi If you are arriving by taxi, most reliable taxi drivers will know the hospital, but you can tell the driver it is on Denmark Hill and the postcode is SE5 9RS. Taxis can drop you off outside the front door of the Guthrie Building without driving in to the main hospital campus. When you are leaving the hospital, there is a taxi rank outside the main hospital and free phones to book taxis at the main entrance. Staff at the Guthrie can also help you order a taxi. Public transport King’s is in zone 2 and is well served by overground train services and the London bus network. To plan your journey, you can use the Transport for London (TfL) Journey Planner https://tfl.gov.uk/plan-a-journey or call TfL Customer Services: 0343 222 1234 (24 hours a day) Buses King's is served by the following bus routes: 35, 40, 42, 45, 68, 176, 185, 345, 468, 484, N35, N68 You can also use these routes to travel to King's from our nearest London Underground stations: Oval, Brixton and Elephant & Castle. Trains Denmark Hill The hospital is about a five-minute walk from Denmark Hill train station. The station is served by regular, direct rail links to central London at Blackfriars, Victoria and St Pancras International as well as to principal stops in south-east London such as Bromley South, Catford, Lewisham and Peckham Rye. It is also on the London Overground route with trains running between Highbury and Islington and Clapham Junction via Surrey Quays stopping at the station. Loughborough Junction The hospital is about a 12-minute walk from Loughborough Junction, on Coldharbour Lane. The station is served by trains to London Bridge, St Pancras International, Wimbledon and Elephant & Castle. Bus routes 35, 45 and 345 run from the station to the hospital. Tube Denmark Hill station is served by the Overground Line (see http://content.tfl.gov.uk/london- overground-network-map.pdf). Or the nearest underground stations are at Oval, Brixton or Elephant & Castle and you can complete your journey by bus (see above for routes). Parking Please note – if you are attending for an eye examination or procedure you may be given drops to dilate your pupils. This will leave your vision blurry for a few hours and you will not be safe to drive. Please ensure you have someone to drive you – or leave the car at home. If you are planning to travel to King’s by road, please note that we are in a residential area so have very few parking spaces at or close to the site. Short-term parking There are a small number of short-term parking spaces where you can drop off and collect patients outside the Golden Jubilee Wing and Hambleden Wing. Disabled drivers There are 20 marked parking spaces across the site for drivers who are registered disabled and have a valid blue badge. There is no charge for parking in these spaces. Disabled drivers can also use the main car park, but they must pay the usual parking charge. King’s Hospital Car Park Parking is charged per hour or part hour, cash only. You must pay before you leave the car park. There is a payment machine in the car park, and at the Hambleden Wing main entrance and the Golden Jubilee Wing entrance. 7am - 10pm: £2.50 per hour for the first two hours or part hour. Then £2 per hour or part hour 10pm - 7am: £2 for the whole period. Car park access The approach to the car park is made via Coldharbour Lane. Turn into Caldecot Road, then right into Bessemer Road and right again into Cutcombe Road. At peak times of the day you may have to queue to enter the car park and wait until a space is free. If you are attending outside of the hours of 12-2pm you will find free street parking on Ferndene Road, about 5-7 mins walk from Guthrie Wing. .
