POST‐MATCH COMMENTS Texas head coach Michael Center On the win “I thought we played well in the doubles. We got some early breaks at Nos. 1 and 2 though we got behind at 3, we fought back. Our energy was good in the doubles, and it was big for us to get that point. We won three first sets in the bottom half of our singles lineup, but a couple of our guys at the top fought back and split sets at Nos. 1 and 3. I give the guys in the bottom part of our lineup a lot of credit for finishing their matches and not letting Tech get any momentum.”

On advancing to the Big 12 title match for a fifth straight year “We had to beat a top‐15 team to advance today, and Texas Tech is an extremely talented team. For us to be playing in the (Big 12) title match for a fifth year in a row is quite an accomplishment. I think we’ll be excited and ready to go tomorrow.”

Texas Tech head coach Tim Siegel On the match “Texas was too good today. I thought that we played pretty good doubles, but they were just much better than we were in the doubles. At singles Nos. 1, 2, and 3, we had chances to win them all. I thought that we played very well at Nos. 5 and 6 in the second sets. We gave ourselves a chance. If we could have pulled out one of those sets at the end, we would have had a chance to keep the match going, but Texas was just too good. They proved why they are No. 3 in the country.”

Texas head coach Michael Center On his team’s performance “That was an incredible match. Texas A&M has a great team and this is the third time we have played them. It is really hard to beat a team three times in the same year. We knew we would get a great effort out of them today and the doubles did not go our way. We had some opportunities early at two doubles and we didn’t get that point but the guys just stuck together and kept fighting.”

Texas junior Ed Corrie On winning the clinching match “Unfortunately I couldn’t close it out in two, and that put a lot of pressure on me. And then the third set was just a dog fight. I tried to stay ahead when I could and just keep holding onto my serve because I knew that was key. (Texas A&M’s Jeff) Dadamo serves so well and coming down the stretch I had to make him play tough balls and capitalize on those.”

Texas A&M Coach Steve Denton On his team’s performance “It was a great match and both teams played their hearts out. It was a hotly‐contested doubles and singles. Somebody had to lose that match today. I have talked to all these Big 12 coaches and we all know that we are all getting better due to these close matches.”

I thought that we played some good doubles at the end, and we were able to get up early in some matches and played really well. Missouri is a team that fights really hard, and it was really close at home a couple weeks ago. We knew that we were in for a battle.”

On playing Nebraska next: “We lost 4‐3 to them back at their place. I have a lot of respect for Nebraska. (Head) Coach Jacobson and (Assistant Coach) Hayden Perez have done a great job with their team, so we know that we have our hands full and will have to play our best tennis in order to give ourselves a shot.”

POST‐MATCH COMMENTS Oklahoma State Head Coach Chris Young On the team's performance: “I thought that our girls did well. It is obviously hot out there, and they took care of it. Iowa State has played us tough now twice, but the girls played well. We are just looking to getting back on the courts tomorrow and taking care of it."

Iowa State Head Coach Armando Espinosa On his team's performance: “I thought that we played pretty well. I think that the doubles point was important, and it did not go our way. Once we came out, I think that there were a couple points there where if we took the momentum of the match, it could have gone a little more our way. They capitalized a little bit better on the matches, and that is the result. I do not think that it was necessarily a 4‐1. I think that it was a little bit closer than that, but that is the way it goes.”

POST‐MATCH COMMENTS

Colorado head coach Nicole Kenneally On the team’s performance: Congratulations to Baylor. They were able to play a well‐disciplined match and we were not able to keep up with them the way we wanted to. My hat goes off to them and I wish them the best of luck the rest of the season. I think our team got out there and they tried their best and it just fell short. Hopefully it gives them the motivation to see what is possible.

Baylor head coach Joey Scrivano

On the team’s performance: They are playing very well and I think our whole team is playing very well. I was impressed to see Csilla (Borsanyi) win so convincingly. She had a tough match with that young lady last time they played and for her to not lose a game…it really says a lot about the way she is playing right now.

On upcoming match: I will feel better when we find out exactly who we are playing and have a better idea of the matchups and what we are going to need to do to come through tomorrow.

POST‐MATCH COMMENTS Texas head coach Patty Fendick‐McCain On losing the doubles point “I think it threw us out of our element. We had a really bad start at No. 2, but we clawed our way back. Things don’t always go your way, but in a way, it was a great wake‐up call.”

On rallying in singles play “This is a group of fighters that won’t get concerned by losing one point. They did a great job in singles all the way down the stretch. They fought hard and played well. I feel good about those four wins, and I felt we were going to get the other two matches. I feel bad for Aeriel (Ellis), given that she was at match point when the match was called. Aeriel was playing a tough match at No. 2, and same with Krista Damico at No. 2. Vanja went out and played great tennis. Maggie Mello has been doing it all season long. She has been focused and disciplined.”

Oklahoma State head coach Chris Young On the match “I thought that it was definitely a tough match. I think that we came out and played our best doubles of the season. We really took it to them and competed well, and I think that in singles we made Texas work for it, and that is what we wanted. We wanted our girls to compete really well, and that is what they did. They left everything they had, and I am really proud of them.”

POST‐MATCH COMMENTS Texas head coach Patty Fendick‐McCain On winning the doubles “We told our team to be ready to go within 10 minutes or less after the completion of the earlier matches. There was a little bit of confusion with the timing of the matches yesterday, and we were a little hacked about that doubles yesterday. We wanted that point badly today, and they got the job done.”

On the singles victories from Aeriel Ellis and Maggie Mello “She has struggled a bit in the last month, but she was ready for a good performance today. she’s. Today was the first time I’ve seen her in that form in about three weeks. It was good to see her back out there in great form. Maggie turned the corner when we player Baylor last time. She came all the way back to win that match, and she has been great ever since.”

Nebraska head coach Scott Jacobson On the team's performance “I think that we were just outmatched today. Texas played tremendously, and that is one of the reasons why their program is top‐20 in the country. I was really proud of our team's effort, but we just came up short against a team that played at a much higher level than us today.”

POST‐MATCH COMMENTS Baylor head coach Joey Scrivano On his team’s performance: “I am just really proud of my team. They just competed real hard from start to finish. It is never easy to beat Texas. To play them in Austin twice this year and come out with two wins is really impressive, and I am really proud of them. It has been a great year and all the players are deserving of all the awards and recognition. They have earned it.”

Texas head coach Patty Fendick‐McCain On her team’s performance: “It is a little disappointing. We didn’t play our best doubles today. Whenever you are starting without the doubles point, you have to win four matches and that is pretty tough. We fought hard all the way down the stretch. Baylor is the No. 1‐ranked team in the country, and we played real tough.”
