Dailey’s best shot of winning the Hackett for filly pacers is My Tweed Heart, who is owned by Carl and Melanie Atley of Xenia, Ohio. The Atleys purchased the filly last July from horseman Tye Loy, who bought her as yearling for just $2,700. “When Carl bought her and I got her, I knew she was a pretty nice horse,” said Dailey. “But I saw this filly as a year- ling and I didn’t like her. She was a midget and real curvy, but she grew up.” My Tweed Heart is a daughter of Manhardt-Tweedle D, a winner of $294,280 and a runner-up in the Ohio Sires Stakes championship as a 3 year old in 2001. Although mostly trained by Jim Arledge Jr., Dailey sat behind Tweedle D in a race. “I liked the mare. She was a really good mare,” recalled Dailey. “So I looked at all of her foals.” Before My Tweed Heart, Tweedle D had four prior foals, none of which ever raced for money. “I looked at all of them and I never liked any of them as yearlings, until last year,” said Dailey.
