Proposed Programme for Dorset & Wilts Under 17'S Assessment DORSET & WILTSHIRE RUGBY FOOTBALL UNION U15 COUNTY RUGBY U15 Seasons Report Management Team. Initial Manager – Martin Axon- agreed to take a break at Chairman Mini & Youth suggestion to reduce his D&W workload at a pressured time and to allow the alleviation of parental discontent in the age group. County Lead Coach – Chris Smith- Stepped Down Last Month Manager- Richard Bourne-Salisbury RFC Lead Coach- Laith Sabih-Bournemouth RFC Forwards Coach- Simon Hall- Warminster RFC (supported by Peter Short of Canford) Backs Coach- Terry Gilmour- Bishops Wordsworth School Trials. In line with the Development Player Programme (DPP) for this season, all trials for the County Selection were completed on the Festival Day 7th December. All players from the 3 DPP Centres attended the festival and a squad of 40 were selected to represent the County this season. Those not selected would still get high level coaching in the remaining DPP sessions As the Oxon game was cancelled by them with two days’ notice we hastily arranged a trial game at Chippenham RFC for Dorset to Play Wiltshire which was won by Dorset in a very tight game by 1 point. Bath Academy attended and we all agreed this was a game of great benefit to all. Bath picked a number of New Players for the Academy. Thanks to Chippenham for hosting this at short notice. Below is County U15 schedule for 2014-15. U15 County Squad Date Sunday 1st March DPP Training Sunday 1st March Sherborne U15 (H) @ Sherborne School Sunday 8st March Devon (H) @ Sherborne RFC Loss (score not known) DPP Training Sunday 22nd March April 8th New Training Team Takes Over Sunday 12th April Dorset V Wiltshire Trial Game @ Chippenham (Oxon couldn’t raise a side) Wednesday 15th April Bath Cup v Somerset RFU at the Rec. Won 40-10 Sunday 26th April Berkshire RFU A & B @ Bournemouth RFC Won Both Games by 21-20 ! (12 Players Missing) Due to the new coaching staff two additional non-contact training sessions were added at Salisbury RFC (10th & 24th April) so the new team could assess the players involved in the next games. First Aid and Physio. As per previous seasons Physio and First Aid will be supplied at the DPP Sessions by Rona Cruickshank and at County Matches by Cara Spence, Sarah Fuller and Declan Murphy. Based on the same format as last season all squad members have been emailed the weblink to Michael Hopes website http://michaelhope.co.uk/shop/browsesubcategory/135/shop where they can order kit as required. Overall Whilst there was the well documented Training Team issue, I feel that the players have had a full and productive county season offered by both Training teams. There are some very talented players in the squad playing attractive & skilful Rugby. With 12 County Players missing for the U15 Club Cup Finals, The DPP system should be commended for being able to produce what was almost a 3rd County Team side which played and won against a Berks B side, a very impressive achievement. It was useful to invite next seasons U16 coaches to take them for a game before next season. Thanks should go to Martin Axon, Chris Smith and St John Coley all of whom rallied round to help make the Training Team transition as smooth as possible with excellent back up notes and general assistance. Lessons to be learned: The M&Y RDP should keep closer tabs on the CB Squads and react quicker to what is going on; I feel we should offer Parents a grievance system so they can complain re non selection issues without them feeling they may jeopardise their sons position, we should encourage Coaches to air any concerns earlier too. Dorset and Wiltshire RFU I feel confident that the reputation of D&W Age Grade Rugby is intact, it was a closer call than it should have been and we should be careful not to let that happen again. With some minor tweaks and adjustments this situation should easily be avoided in the future. Richard Bourne D&W U15 County Manager. Billy’s next step to Taekwondo stardom is entering an international open competition being held in Belgium in January 2019. TBS Student scores as Multiple awards for Year Dorset U14’s win 6-0! 10 student representing A massive congratulations to all the girls involved in the 6-0 win for Dorset U14’s vs Devon, but a the Dorset Ladies Cricket particular well done to our own Year 9 student Jaz who scored one of the goals! Congratulations to Year 10 student Mollie for winning a number of awards at the recent Dorset Ladies cricket awards. Amongst other awards, Mollie won were U15 player of the season and Batter of the Season across all age groups. Mollie’s total of 436 runs scored put her 10th in the country for highest number of runs in the U15 age group.

You will note I have referred to year rather than season for as I write this welcome introduction for our handbook, we still have no clear certainty about when the 2020/21 season will actually commence! This is as we are all now well aware the most unusual of times across all sectors of daily life with our marvellous game of rugby football no less affected. With all competitions as we know them across all sections and age groups suspended until 2021 I know this is a very challenging time for all our clubs throughout the two counties both in terms of rugby related and off field supporting activities. Last season came to something of an abrupt halt although this should not detract from the achievements of the various league and cup competitions winners and we wish them and all other clubs well in all future competitions as and when they resume. Likewise, of course very little of the county representative rugby programme was completed last season with neither of the senior men or women’s competitions started at all. Again, I am sure we will look forward to resurrecting the representative programme as and when permitted. All of that said I know there is a tremendous amount of work being undertaken by the clubs within the two counties both to address all the issues surrounding the Return to Rugby process and within the wider community as well.

A third generation in the family, no less, and a boy who should become a Pilgrim in five years’ time. Our conversation fell – as it does for middle- aged men – to discussion of Sherborne and impressions of a place we were at rather a long time ago. Leadership became the theme, as the merits of housemasters and headmasters were discussed, past and present. A favourable impression was given on the other side of the table about Dominic Luckett, who assumed the helm of the School at the turn of the year (and, I should add, an equally favourable impression of Ralph Barlow, who held the fort after the abrupt departure of Luckett’s predecessor). Luckett is early into his tenure but we welcome him to the Club, as with all new headmasters. A warm welcome too to Barlow, whose calmness at the eye of the storm nearly two years ago was a valuable asset for the School to possess.

    It is important that your grant is used effectively and based on school need. The Education Inspection Framework (Ofsted 2019 p64) makes clear there will be a focus on ‘whether leaders and those responsible for governors all understand their respective roles and perform these in a way that enhances the effectiveness of the school’. Under the Quality of Education criteria (p41) inspectors consider the extent to which schools can articulate their curriculum (INTENT), construct their curriculum (IMPLEMENTATION) and demonstrate the outcomes which result (IMPACT). To assist schools with common transferable language this template has been developed to utilise the same three headings which should make your plans easily transferable between working documents. Schools must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of Physical Education, School Sport and Physical Activity (PESSPA) they offer. This means that you should use the Primary PE and Sport Premium to: • Develop or add to the PESSPA activities that your school already offer • Build capacity and capability within the school to ensure that improvements made now will benefit pupils joining the school in future years Please visit gov.uk for the revised DfE guidance including the 5 key indicators across which schools should demonstrate an improvement. This document will help you to review your provision and to report your spend. DfE encourages schools to use this template as an effective way of meeting the reporting requirements of the Primary PE and Sport Premium. We recommend you start by reflecting on the impact of current provision and reviewing the previous spend.
