  • Resourcing Sustainable Church: a Time to Change - Together
RESOURCING SUSTAINABLE CHURCH: A TIME TO CHANGE - TOGETHER Transforming lives in Greater Lincolnshire 1 Foreword from The Bishop of Lincoln Returning to Lincoln after almost two years’ absence gives me the opportunity to see and evaluate the progress that has been made to address the issues we face as a diocese. Many of the possibilities that are placed before you in this report were already under discussion in 2019. What this report, and the work that lies behind it, does is to put flesh on the bones. It gives us a diocese the opportunity to own up to and address the issues we face at this time. I am happy strongly to recommend this report. It comes with my full support and gratitude to those who have contributed so far. What it shows is that everything is possible if we trust in God and each other. Of course, this is only a first step in a process of development and change. Much as some of us, including me at times, might like to look back nostalgically to the past – the good news is that God is calling us into something new and exciting. What lies ahead will not be easy – as some hard decisions will need to be taken. But my advice is that there will never be a better opportunity to work together to uncover and build the Kingdom of God in Greater Lincolnshire. I urge the people of God in this diocese to join us on this journey. +Christopher Lincoln: Bishop of Lincoln 2 Introduction Resourcing Sustainable Church: A Time to Change - Together sets a vision for a transformed church.

  • The Good News from Nettleham Sunday 26 July 2020 Trinity 7 No 159 Urgent Notice…
All Saints St. Mary’s NETTLEHAM PARISH CHURCH RISEHOLME PARISH CHURCH The Good News from Nettleham Sunday 26 July 2020 Trinity 7 No 159 Urgent notice…. The Church of England has issued new guidance on safety when meeting in church buildings, based on government guidance and instructions. Face-coverings now advised for all going into churches. “We strongly advise that face coverings should be worn by all those attending a place of worship, including ministers, worshippers, staff, volunteers, contractors and visitors, where there may be other people present; remembering that they are mainly intended to protect other people, not the wearer, from coronavirus COVID-19 and that they are not a replacement for physical distancing and regular hand washing.” Accordingly, with immediate effect, we are advising all who come into All Saints, please wear a face mask, as a sign and a means of offering safety as well as hospitality to others. If you do not have one, there are plenty in church. We suggest congregations should keep them on throughout worship but remove them carefully to receive communion. Clergy and ministers will wear them at all times except when speaking. The same advice applies when we open the church for private prayer, and for those visiting the Parish Centre. Please use sanitiser, including before and after touching masks, and keep 2m distance where possible. Young children and those with specific conditions are under no pressure to comply with guidance on masks – details later in GNFN. Fr Richard 25 July Father Richard writes… As we tentatively take steps to emerge from our Coronavirus shelter, to meet a little, and even, praise be, to worship together, we will need not to be over ambitious, and we will need to keep safety paramount.

It was not a new idea. In his letter to the Galatians some 1900 years earlier, the Apostle Paul had urged the Galatian Christians to remember that: “There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus.” Fo r Paul, our key identity lies in Jesus Christ, and all other things that might threaten to cause us to look down on others- or even to look down on ourselves- seem irrelevant in the light of our status as precious Children of God.

Module Code: TMM 42360 Banner ID: 000647602 What factors do Diocesan Directors of Ordinands in the South Central Regional Training Programme perceive promote flourishing in curacy? Page 1 of 139 Module Code: TMM 42360 Banner ID: 000647602 I would like to give thanks to: Dr Catherine Wright and Dr Anne Francis, who acted as my supervisors for this research; to Dr Liz Graveling and Dr Ruth Perrin for meeting with me in October 2015 to help me identify what research had been, was being and might possibly be done in this area by the Church of England and to all those who were part of the research journey. I would like to give particular thanks to the Reverend Sue Rose and all Diocesan Directors of Ordinands in the South Central Regional Training Partnership, without whom this research could not have taken place. Page 2 of 139 Module Code: TMM 42360 Banner ID: 000647602 ABSTRACT After Initial Ministerial Education, ordinands in the Church of England are ordained as deacons and enter a period of three to four years curacy working with a Training Incumbent in a Title Post, usually in a parish in a particular diocese. Many curates and Training Incumbents report a fulfilling, if often challenging, time in curacy. Others report more complex situations and sadly a significant number of curates are moved to a different post in their curacy due to problems arising where flourishing has been compromised. This can have a negative impact not just on the curates and Training Incumbent concerned, but on their families, friends and the parish and church more widely.

  • The August Good News from Nettleham Thursday 1St 2019 to Saturday 31St August Trinity 7-10 No 112
All Saints St. Mary’s NETTLEHAM PARISH CHURCH RISEHOLME PARISH CHURCH The August Good News from Nettleham Thursday 1st 2019 to Saturday 31st August Trinity 7-10 No 112 Reverend Judy writes….. What does August mean to you? Perhaps it’s holidays and time away with family or friends or maybe it’s a time of sitting in the warmth of the sunshine on these light evenings enjoying a glass of wine. Or is it the excitement of the thunderstorms or watching the ripening corn in the field. Or maybe it’s that extra time on your hands to enjoy in any way you want. For children it’s a time to abandon the daily rush and routine of the school day. For families it’s a time to get away together often chasing the sunshine, although perhaps not this year, as we have been blessed with an abundance. For those who have grandchildren perhaps it’s a time for helping out with child care. In the summer God makes the daylight longer and warmer so that the crops and fruits ripen. But it also gives us the chance to be out in the evening where we might be able to talk to people who in the winter are hidden in their homes. It is also a pointer toward heaven when there shall no longer be any night. Long days show the glory of a God who is light, and in whom there is no darkness at all. God creates the summer to give us opportunities to travel and see His handiwork in other places or even enjoy what is on our own doorstep.

  • Archdeacons' News, April 2019
THE ARCHDEACONS’ FORUM for the Church of England and the Church in Wales Archdeacons’ News Bulletin no. 43 April 2019 from Norman Boakes Archdeacons’ National Development Officer The last few weeks has seen a change in our Administrator for the Archdeacons’ Forum. Liz Brereton left her post with Ministry Division and as our Administrator at the end of March. We gave her our thanks for her work for us, especially over the National Conference, and our very best wishes for the future. She has been succeeded by Husna Louise, who is joining Ministry Division to take on a new post as Events Manager and Personal Assistant to the Director. Husna will set up and manage all the external residential training events and meetings (except BAPs) and will service Ministry Council and the Ordained Vocations Working Group. She will be ensuring that Ministry Division is not only friendly and well organised, but meeting in suitable venues for learning and development, both at home and away. She will be providing some PA services for Mandy Ford, the Interim Director, and also be supporting my work, my successor’s and that of the Forum. Husna has previously been PA to the Bishop of Stepney and before that worked in Church House. She brings a wide knowledge of the Church of England to her role. Holy Week and Easter focus on the central events of our faith. I pray that this week will be for you a time of renewal and deepening of faith in Christ and his service in his world.
