ENASIANS were forced to go to other municipal offices for their Ex- Lpanded Social Package (ESP,) and other services, as the Lenasia Civic Centre, which renders these services, has been offline for more than a month. Some of the elderly people labelled this situation ‘unfair’. They have to use their pension money to travel to these offices. Some have to travel as far as to access these ser- vices, something which they believe is com- pletely unacceptable. When asked about the progress, staff members at the municipal offices were in the dark and they did not know when the problem would be resolved. “We have been offline since our network cable was struck by lightning. We are the head office for Region G. This means that if we are offline then a lot of people are af- fected,” said one of the staff members. Speaking to the Rising Sun, Region G Director, Mickey Padayachie, said he was aware of the problem and he was working with the relevant stakeholders to resolve the issue. “Thenetwork has been on and off for the past month. The network cable has been cited as the reason. I am meeting the techni- cians next week. I understand that this has caused a lot of frustration to people. We are working on finding an amicable solution, to The tree and the network cable were struck by lightning. the problem.”
