With this tournament, the organisers really cement Austria's outstanding reputation as a host country, whether you're referring to skiing or football during the Montafon Alpine Trophy: every guest is more than welcome. It's no surprise that top clubs like Werder Bremen and Lazio Roma regularly set up their training camps in Schruns. The organisers offer an attractive programme in and around the beautifully kept sports parks, meticulously planned to include a vast array of sporting and celebratory activities, such as a spectacular opening ceremony and a laid-back party night. All four sports parks lie within a radius of 10 kilometres and feature one or two pitches with beautiful clubhouses and terraces, grandstand and swimming pool. The Montafon valley (35 km long, 16,500 inhabitants) starts in the Silvretta Alps on the border with Switzerland – with peaks of 3000 metres and above – and goes all the way to Bludenz in Inntal. Schruns and Tschagguns are in the centre of the Montafon valley. Montafon Montafon is a popular destination for holiday-makers in both summer and winter. The communities of Schruns and Tschagguns are surrounded by spectacular Alpine giants, such as the Rätikon, Silvretta and the Verwall. The highest peak is Piz Buin at 3,312 metres. There are no fewer than 62 lifts to take adventurers to incredible heights. Aktivpark Montafon: In this enormous sports and leisure park, you can do almost anything, such as mountain biking and rollerskating. There is also a spectacular dry toboggan track and a climbing forest in Aktivpark Montafon. That's what you call real adventure! You'll also find the Montafon Alpine Pool in this park, where participants can take a dip and whizz down the awesome water slide. .

    Lach/Blauner-Switzerland-2020-Prospectus Trek The Little-Known Silvretta and Rätikon Alps Straddling the Swiss-Austrian Border Trip #2046 July 11- 25, 2020 The Region The Silvretta and Rätikon Alps, located along the Swiss/Austrian border, provide the venue for a unique hiking and cultural experience. These mountain ranges have been long appreciated in Europe for their superior year-round outdoor recreational opportunities. Ernest Hemingway penned his memoirs of Paris in the ‘20s (“A Movable Feast”) while living in this area. During our two week journey we will experience two distinct cultures, Swiss and Austrian, and explore two mountain ranges, geographically adjacent but geologically distinctly different. The Silvretta Alps are high mountains covered with snow and ice, while the Rätikon Alps have lower elevations and are almost completely ice-free. Their limestone composition and sharply rising peaks, topped by turrets and towers, are directly reminiscent of the Dolomites in northern Italy. 1 Trip Overview This trip is a 6: strenuous mountain trekking experience appropriate for an experienced outdoor adventurer. You will carry all your possessions, clothing, lunch and water in your backpack. Since lodging, breakfast, and dinner are provided a fully loaded backpack will weigh typically 20 -25 pounds. We will hike for 11 consecutive days. A typical day will have a book time of 5.5 hours [excludes all breaks] which is sufficient to cover eight miles and gain 2,500 -3,000 feet of elevation. While no technical climbing is required, there will be some narrow trails bordered by steep drop offs. Primarily through loans to build up the economy and diplomatic pressure, the United States and Great Britain helped to maintain an independent Austrian state and prevent an Anschluss or union with Germany from 1918 to 1934. In addition, this study examines the minority of Austrians who opposed an Anschluss . The three main groups of Austrians that supported independence were the Christian Social Party, monarchists, and some industries and industrialists. These Austrian nationalists cooperated with the Americans and British in sustaining an unwilling Austrian nation. Ultimately, the global depression weakened American and British capacity to practice dollar and pound diplomacy, and the popular appeal of Hitler combined with Nazi Germany’s aggression led to the realization of the Anschluss .

Wir erleben Wasser als Regen oder Schnee, in den Gebirgsbächen, Flüssen oder im Bodensee. Wasser ist aber auch Lebensraum für unzählige Pflanzen und Tiere. Wir nutzen das „Lebens-Mittel“ Wasser darüber hinaus zum Trinken und Waschen – und als Energielieferant: Strom aus Wasserkraft ist eine wichtige erneuerbare Energiequelle. Gleichzeitig tragen wir eine besondere Verantwortung, dieses kostbare Gut vor Verunreinigungen zu schützen und nachhaltig zu bewirtschaften – beispielsweise mit dem Vorarlberger Trinkwasservorsorgekonzept. Wir müssen uns aber auch vor den Gefahren des Wassers schützen. Wasser als Lebensraum zu erhalten oder auch wieder herzustellen, ist eine weitere wichtige Herausforderung. This study reports about prehistoric fire incidents and their impact on the flora and vegetation near the village of Ardez in the Lower Engadine Valley (Switzerland) since the Late Neolithic Period. Pollen, charcoal particles and non-pollen palynomorphs preserved in the Saglias and Cutüra peat bog stratigraphies were quantified and the results compared with the regional archaeological evidence. Anthropogenic deforestation using fire started around 4850 cal. BP at Saglias and aimed at establishing first cultivated crop fields (e.g. cereals) and small pastoral areas as implied by the positive correlation coefficients between charcoal particles and cultural and pastoral pollen indicators, as well as spores of coprophilous fungi. Pressure on the natural environment by humans and livestock continued until 3650 cal. BP and was followed by reforestation processes until 3400 cal. BP because of climatic deterioration.
