Bonus Credits

Global and International Studies ‐ World Citizenship 12 (2 credits) ‐ World Citizenship 12 A (4 credits) • Students earn an extra 6 credits for doing 60 volunteer/service hours

LGCA students are required to complete: Grade 10 = 20 hours Grade 11 = 25 hours Grade 12 = 30 hours • COVID will limit service opportunities.

Provincial Graduation Assessments 2 Literacy (Grade 10 & 12) and 1 Numeracy (Grade 10) Assessments will be: • Marked on a 4 point proficiency scale Emerging / Developing / Proficient / Extending • Reported separately on transcript • Students may attempt assessments more than once • The 2020/21 Literacy 12 Assessment has been postponed

Assessments will NOT be: • Blended with any school course mark • Not used by the Post Secondary schools at this point

Students need to demonstrate reflective and engaged learning • Course load as well as diversity is important (An LGCA graduate will have well beyond the minimum 80 credits)

Post-Secondary Institute Updates

• UBC and SFU – have introduced major changes in last two years • Check individual Post‐Secondary Institute websites for the most recent information (esp. SFU)

Fall 2021: • UBC considers all grade 11 and 12 courses, excluding the lowest mark for each grade • SFU considers a minimum of 5 academic grade 12 courses plus all grade 11 courses. However, each program requires a specific set of courses. • Cap U – grade 11 and 12 courses, English 12 and 2 academic courses. Some programs require specific courses (eg: STEM)

Cap U Engineering Transfer Program

• Capilano University engineering graduates who meet the GPA requirements are guaranteed entry to UBC to complete their bachelor’s degree. • You may also opt for engineering programs at UVic or SFU, among others.
