La connaissance de la biodiversité sur l’Est Cantal un enjeu pour le développement du territoire ! Depuis avril 2017, le SYTEC s’est engagé dans une démarche d’Atlas de la Biodiversité Territoriale, avec l’objectif d’une part, de mieux connaitre la biodiversité du territoire et, d’autre part, d’intégrer les enjeux connus dans les démarches de planification notamment. Dans ce cadre, un ensemble de données naturalistes sur les territoires de l’Est Cantal ont pu être collectées auprès de nombreuses structures (Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle, collectivités, associations, naturalistes professionnels…). Des inventaires sont également confiés chaque année par le SYTEC à des structures professionnelles pour compléter les connaissances sur des secteurs mal connus. En complément, des enquêtes participatives, qui rencontrent un vif succès, ont été lancées à destination du grand public, particulièrement des habitants des territoires. Ce travail de collecte a permis de réunir plus d’un million de données depuis le début de la démarche. A la fin de l’année 2018, ce sont 2505 espèces qui ont été répertoriés sur le territoire depuis 10 ans pour la faune (1017 espèces) et au cours de ces 15 dernières années pour la flore, les champignons et les algues (respectivement 1359, 31 et 98 espèces recensés). Parmi elles, 303 espèces sont considérées comme des espèces à enjeux en termes de préservation. Les inventaires se sont poursuivis en 2019 et continueront en 2020, permettant une mise à jour annuelle des connaissances de l’Est Cantal. Afin de partager -

DRAFT Mazama Pocket Gopher Status Update and Recovery Plan Derek W. Stinson Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Wildlife Program 600 Capitol Way N Olympia, Washington January 2013 In 1990, the Washington Wildlife Commission adopted procedures for listing and de-listing species as endangered, threatened, or sensitive and for writing recovery and management plans for listed species (WAC 232-12-297, Appendix A). The procedures, developed by a group of citizens, interest groups, and state and federal agencies, require preparation of recovery plans for species listed as threatened or endangered. Recovery, as defined by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, is the process by which the decline of an endangered or threatened species is arrested or reversed, and threats to its survival are neutralized, so that its long-term survival in nature can be ensured. This is the Draft Washington State Status Update and Recovery Plan for the Mazama Pocket Gopher. It summarizes what is known of the historical and current distribution and abundance of the Mazama pocket gopher in Washington and describes factors affecting known populations and its habitat. It prescribes strategies to recover the species, such as protecting populations and existing habitat, evaluating and restoring habitat, and initiating research and cooperative programs. Target population objectives and other criteria for down-listing to state Sensitive are identified. As part of the State’s listing and recovery procedures, the draft recovery plan is available for a 90-day public comment period. BROWER2 and SÖREN NYLIN1 1Department of Zoology, Stockholm University, S-106 91 Stockholm, Sweden 2Department of Zoology, Oregon State University, Corvallis, Oregon 97331–2907, USA Received 10 January 2004; accepted for publication 12 November 2004 We infer for the first time the phylogenetic relationships of genera and tribes in the ecologically and evolutionarily well-studied subfamily Nymphalinae using DNA sequence data from three genes: 1450 bp of cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI) (in the mitochondrial genome), 1077 bp of elongation factor 1-alpha (EF1-a) and 400–403 bp of wing- less (both in the nuclear genome). We explore the influence of each gene region on the support given to each node of the most parsimonious tree derived from a combined analysis of all three genes using Partitioned Bremer Support. We also explore the influence of assuming equal weights for all characters in the combined analysis by investigating the stability of clades to different transition/transversion weighting schemes. We find many strongly supported and stable clades in the Nymphalinae. We are also able to identify ‘rogue’ -

Perennial herb, several-stemmed at base, decumbent or ascending to erect, to 100+ cm tall; shoots arising from base relatively unbranched, with long internodes, with leaves appearing tufted at nodes having leaves on unexpanded axillary shoots, glabrous, glaucous. Stems: cylindric, to 10 mm diameter, fused bases of upper cauline leaves forming ledges across each node, somewhat woody; hollow, pith wide. Leaves: opposite decussate, simple, petiolate (lower leaves) and sessile (upper leaves), without stipules; petiole channeled, to 40 mm long, somewhat indistinct from blade, expanded at base; blade elliptic or lanceolate (typical cauline leaves) to ovate (cauline leaves subtending reproductive shoots), 30–200 × 20–70 mm, reduced on lateral branches, long-tapered at base, entire, acuminate (typical leaves) to tail-like (caudate, cauline leaves) at tip, pinnately veined with midrib raised on lower surface, bluish green. Inflorescence: panicle of cymes (thyrse), terminal (axillary), domed, 35−70 mm across, with 2 or more orders of opposite decussate lateral branching and many flowers in a somewhat dense cluster, the second and third order forks with a terminal flower, ultimate branchlets somewhat 1-sided, bracteate, essentially glabrous; central axis with several−10 nodes; bracts at the lowest node 2 (= 1 subtending each main branch), bases fused across node, leaflike, ovate, 3−4 mm long, midvein slightly raised on lower surface; first internode 10+ mm long, decreasing upward; bracts subtending lateral branches and larger branchlets oblong or narrowly triangular to narrowly spatulate, 1−3 mm long, bases fused across node, with some short glandular hairs on margins; bractlet subtending flower awl-shaped, 1−2 mm long increasing in fruit, usually abscised before fruit matures; pedicel absent. -

Abstract The cabbage looper moth (CLM), Trichoplusia ni (Hübner) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) is an agricultural pest that has developed resistance to many frequently used insecticides, so alternative methods are required to reduce greenhouse CLM populations. Host plant volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) are used by female CLMs as cues for host location and oviposition. I hypothesized that changes in host plant VOC production, through genetic modification, could alter host location behaviour by CLMs. These changes in VOCs have potential to give rise to highly attractive transgenic trap crops. -

Floral evolution is expected to reflect interactions with the most important 20 pollinators, but few studies have quantified the contribution of different pollinators to current 21 selection on floral traits. To compare selection mediated by diurnal and nocturnal pollinators on 22 floral display and spur length in the rewarding orchid Gymnadenia conopsea, we manipulated 23 the environment by conducting supplemental hand-pollinations and selective pollinator 24 exclusions in two populations in central Norway. In both populations, the exclusion of diurnal 25 pollinators significantly reduced seed production compared to open-pollination, whereas the 26 exclusion of nocturnal pollinators did not. There was significant selection on traits expected to 27 influence pollinator attraction and pollination efficiency in both the diurnal and nocturnal 28 pollination treatment. The relative strength of selection among plants exposed to diurnal and 29 nocturnal visitors varied among traits and populations, but the direction of selection was 30 consistent. -

The breeding population in Scotland – in largely semi-natural open habitat – shows significant increase whereas there has been a significant decline in England. Here breeding numbers have remained stable or increased in semi-natural habitats, while woodland and farmland populations have plummeted. As a brood parasitic bird with a long-distance annual migration, the cuckoo has a unique network of relationships to songbird „hosts‟, prey and habitat; and a disconnection between adult and nestling ecology due to lack of parental care. This thesis investigated the role of breeding ground land-use factors in driving cuckoo population decline. In the first chapter information was synthesised from the literature on potential threats and environmental impacts facing cuckoo populations, which also highlighted knowledge gaps and a basis for hypotheses in later chapters. -
