The committee next meets 20 January 2017 in Colorado Springs. An update will be provided to the Board after the meeting. The Summary below is of current actions/projects since the last Board meeting.

2017 FINA GENERAL AND TECHNICAL CONGRESSES (Budapest, July): Preparations continue for this event, held in conjunction with the LC World Championships. A UANA Extraordinary Congress, summoned to discuss and vote on amendment proposals for the Constitution, will also be held.

FINA WORLD AQUATIC CONVENTION and SC WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS: attended the World Aquatic Convention and SC World Champs, in Windsor, ONT, in early December. Other USA Swimming members in attendance included Jim Sheehan, Bruce Stratton, Dale Neuberger, Carol Zaleski, Greg Eggert and Amy Hoppenrath. Discussions were held with representatives from several federations regarding Anti-Doping, new Open Water swimwear rules, and other significant topics of mutual interest.

OTHER ACTIVITIES:

AGE GROUP DOPING TASK FORCE -- Dr. Monique Burton- Chair, Amy Eichner, Kate Borg, Ira Klein, Michael Lawrence, Michael Kleuh, Chip Peterson.

Productive meetings were held recently to align possible outcomes with the TF Charter. USADA will conduct a webinar on 11 January explaining what the Global DRO is and how to use it.

CENTRAL ZONE SECTION 1 – Meet information has been approved and sanction issued. The Meet Information and other docs/files should be posted to the Zone website soo.

Spring Sectional Meet -- March 9, 2017 - March 12, 2017, University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA

Summer Sectional Meet -- July 19, 2017 - July 22, 2017, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN

POLICY DEVELOPMENT FOR 303.5: discussed with Jay Thomas and plan to have a policy proposal for the January Board meeting.

303.5 No Individual Member or Group Member of USA Swimming shall coach, train or provide swimming-related advice or service to any swimmer who is serving a period of ineligibility or provisional suspension for an anti-doping rule violation.

In accordance with policies and procedures in the USA Swimming Policy Manual, Coaches and Group Members are required to report any non-member of USA Swimming ranked in the top 100 in the world who participates in team activities.

UPCOMING:

TACKLING DOPING IN SPORTS CONFERENCE: I will make a return visit to London in March 2017 to this attend this conference.

USA Swimming Convention Education Committee Report to the ISI Board of Directors January 2017

• • Attended biannual Committee Chairs Workshop in Colorado Springs Jan 6-7, 2017. Good meeting facilitated by LSC Development consultants Jane Grosser and Cherita Gentilucci. o Provided overview of responsibilities of chairs, and tools to be more effective o Best session was a review of the 2017-2020 QUAD Business Plan by USA Swimming staff Chuck Wielgus and Pat Hogan, Club Development (BUILD); Jim Fox, Marketing (PROMOTE); and Bryce Elser, National team (ACHIEVE) § Encouraged committee work to be aligned with Quad Plan o Break-out groups with vice-chairs geared toward development of calendars and goals for the year

• In-person meeting of Convention Education committee moved far up in the planning cycle; meeting Jan 15-16 in Dallas (site of 2017 Convention) o Working on development of better track programming for attendees o Discussed Convention scheduling with committee chairs and asked for help in minimizing conflicts and producing better Convention content and presentations
