(ICG), is an affiliation of amateur, hobbyist, and professional costumers dedicated to the promotion and education of costuming as an art form in all its aspects. The awards from the Masquerade Judges followed: FROM THE WORLDCON: Novice Division-Presentation: By Patrick J. and Leah R. O’Connor (CCG) Best in Class: Jennifer Aubin for “X-Men-The Phoenix” Best Character: Colin Betts for “Green Lantern” This year’s World Science-Fiction Convention (Anticipation 2009) Recreation: Jennifer Wynne for “Wanted: One Hero” was in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The Masquerade was chaired by photo by Christine Mak, pxlbarrel Byron Connell . Novice Division- Like Neil Armstrong, we came on behalf of all mankind, but Workmanship: particularly the Chicagoland Chapter, with the ancillary goal of Best in Class: Jennifer delivering the coveted(?) Cement Overshoes Award to a suitable Wynne for “Wanted: One contestant in the Masquerade, and of course, to report back to the Hero” – also noted for Membership on the outcome of that competition. “best use of spandex.” The Masquerade took place at the Palais de Congres de Montreal There is “Well Tailored,” on the evening of Saturday, August 8, 2009. “Really Well-tailored,” and 23 groups competed for awards; the entries were of such high “Looks Like it was Painted quality that the judges could not decide on an overall Best in Show, on” Jennifer W’s costume and none was awarded. This was not due to any lack of excellence— was in the third category.. -

The annual event (formerly Newcon PDX) will take place this year at the Sheraton Portland Airport Hotel. (PORTLAND, OREGON, MAY 14, 2018) Fandom PDX, Portland’s local, hotel based pop culture, fantasy, sci-fi, and gaming convention, will be hosted this year at the Sheraton Portland Airport Hotel located at 8325 NE Airport Way Portland, OR 97220. The two-day celebration will take place June 2-3, 2018 and starts at 10:00 AM each morning, with registration opening at 9:00 AM. In addition to vendors, artists, and all-day tabletop and video gaming, Fandom PDX will offer several special attractions for attendees. Kimberly Brooks, the voice of Allura on the hit Netflix series Voltron: Legendary Defender, will be on hand to meet attendees. Fan will also recognize her as the voice of Jasper from Steven Universe and Ashley Williams from the video game series Mass Effect. Fans of animation will recognize Richard Horvitz as the voice of many iconic characters, including Invader Zim, Billy from The Grim Adventures Of Billy And Mandy, Daggett from The Angry Beavers, Kaos from the Skylanders franchise and Alpha 5 from the original Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers. In addition to Richard’s animation work, gamers will recognize him from his many video game roles in such classics as Psychonauts (Raz), Ratchet And Clank Series (Zoni, Pollyx, Zurgo), Destroy All Humans (Orthopox), and Skylanders (Kaos) to name a few. -

Fan Expo Dallas Treats Children Battling Cancer to Superhero Breakfast Heroes for Children Families Enjoy Breakfast, Books and Fun DALLAS, TEXAS – (May 23, 2016) – Fan Expo Dallas, presented by Dallas Comic Con – the largest comics, sci-fi, horror, anime and gaming event in Texas – hosted a breakfast on Saturday, May 21, at Half Price Books in Dallas in partnership with Heroes for Children, a unique nonprofit that provides financial and social assistance to families with children battling cancer. A day of fun was planned by Fan Expo Dallas including breakfast with costumed superheroes, a superhero photo booth, games and superhero story time – giving families with children battling cancer a day of cheer while building excitement for Fan Expo Dallas, coming June 3 – 5. More than 40 guests attended and were treated to complimentary tickets to Fan Expo Dallas, a donut breakfast sponsored by Dunkin’ Donuts, and a book and goodie giveaway sponsored by Half Price Books. To aid in their battle against cancer, each Wonder Woman, Super Girl and Spiderman strike a pose child was gifted a superhero cape. with Heroes for Children families at the Fan Expo Superhero Breakfast. FAN EXPO Dallas Announces First Ever Masters of Cosplay Grand Prix Dallas event to host the Central Qualifier Saturday, April 7 Winner to go Toronto to compete in Masters of Cosplay Grand Prix Sept. 1 DALLAS (Feb. 20, 2018) – FAN EXPO Dallas – the largest comics, sci-fi, horror, anime and gaming event in Texas – is proud to host the Central Qualifier of a brand-new cosplay competition called the Masters of Cosplay Grand Prix, which will take place Sept. 1, 2018, in Toronto. The Central Qualifier will be held April 7, 2018, during FAN EXPO Dallas. Cosplay is the practice of dressing up in costumes and accessories as a character from a favorite movie, series, book or video game. This competition will be open to any cosplayer age 13 and up who has admission to FAN EXPO Dallas. Costumes must be at least 50 percent handmade or altered. Commissioned costumes will only be allowed if the creator is present. All entrants must pre-register online before the contest. The four divisions, categorized based on skill level, are: Masters Division, Journeyman Division, Novice Division and Youth Division. There will be amazing prizes for the winners of each division, the grand prize being an all-expenses paid trip to FAN EXPO Canada to compete in the Masters of Cosplay Grand Prix where the contestants from each of the qualifying rounds will compete for the ultimate prize of $5,000 and be crowned as FAN EXPO’s very first Master of Cosplay Champion. Cosplay fans can also enter a more casual costume contest and still win great prizes in the Walk-On Costume Contest.
