ATHLETES HEADING TO 2010 COMMONWEALTH GAMES VICTORIA – Eighty-two B.C. athletes will be competing against other world-class athletes at the upcoming 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India, announced Premier Gordon Campbell. “I’d like to congratulate all the B.C. athletes who have been named to Team Canada. I know they will be great ambassadors for our province and country, and all Canadians will be cheering them on to build upon the success of our athletes from the 2010 Games,” said Premier Campbell. “The Commonwealth Games are a celebration of how sport can bring many different nations together into a single community. It is an incredible event that has great significance to British Columbia as a former host province.” The Games will take place Oct. 3-14 and will feature more than 4,000 world-class athletes from 71 Commonwealth nations and territories, competing in 17 different sports. Canada finished third overall at the 2006 Games in Melbourne, Australia, where B.C. athletes made up 40 per cent of the Canadian team and won 25 medals – 30 per cent of the Canadian total. This year, Canada will send a highly competitive team of approximately 350 athletes and coaches to the Games. B.C. athletes make up 32 per cent of this year’s Canadian team. “This large contingent of B.C. athletes on the Canadian team once again demonstrates the strength of B.C.’s sport system and the quality of development and training opportunities for high-performance athletes here,” said Ida Chong, Minister of Healthy Living and Sport. “We are also very proud of all of our B.C.-based coaches who dedicate their lives to preparing our athletes for top competitions.” British Columbia’s athletes’ success on the national and international stage is due, in part, to the Province’s unique regional pathway for athlete development, which travels through the BC Games and Canada Games. Since 2007, the Pan American Elite Teams have been named every two years to recognize the top players in the Pan American region. Hockey specialists present at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara and at the 2011 Pan American Challenge in Rio de Janeiro were consulted for the selection of this year’s Elite Teams. The 2011 Men's Pan American Elite Team is led by Lucas REY, captain of the Pan American Champion Argentina. Argentina is also represented by three other players (Ignacio BERGNER, Rodrigo VILA and Lucas VILA) while Pan American Games runner-up Canada is represented by Ken PEREIRA, Rob SHORT and Scott TUPPER. Three players were also selected from Bronze Medalists Chile (goal-keeper Mathias ANWANDTER, Esteban KRAINZ and Martin RODRIGUEZ). Altogether, the 2011 Men’s Pan American Elite Team is made up of players from seven different countries: Argentina (4), Canada (3), Chile (3), Cuba (2), Mexico (2), Trinidad & Tobago (1) and the USA (1). The 2011 Women's Pan American Elite Team is led by Lauren CRANDALL, captain of the USA who defeated Argentina for the first time in the history of the Pan American Games. The USA is also represented by three other players (Rachel DAWSON, Katie O'DONNELL and goal-keeper Jaclyn KINTZER) while Argentina is represented by Luciana AYMAR, Soledad GARCIA and Rosario LUCHETTI. As part of the Canada Games Council’s (CGC) alumni engagement initiatives, the CGC is working to engage all past Canada Games Host Communities in the celebration of the upcoming Canada Games.     2021 Canada Games Aboriginal Apprentice Coach Program Guidelines INTRODUCTION The Canada Games Council, the Coaching Association of Canada, and the Provincial/Territorial Coaching Representatives strongly believe that coaching apprenticeship programs are an essential part of the development of a coach. Furthermore, apprenticeship programs can be used as a means to attract and support underrepresented populations in coaching, such as female and Aboriginal coaches. The Canada Games have featured apprenticeship coach programs in every Games since the 2005 Canada Summer Games in Regina, Saskatchewan. The program provides up to two coaches per Games from each Province and Territory the opportunity to develop their coaching skills through the Canada Games. Aboriginal Apprentice Coach Program (AACP): The AACP is a partnership between the Aboriginal Sport Circle (ASC), the Provincial/Territorial Aboriginal Sport Bodies (PTASBs), the Provincial/Territorial Coaching Representatives (PTCRs), the Canada Games Council (CGC), and the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC). The program provides the opportunity for each Province and Territory to send 2 coaches of aboriginal ancestry to the Canada Games in apprenticeship roles. Since 2008 when the Council of Richmond appointed the Board to oversee a legacy operation that is efficiently run, financially viable and not a burden to taxpayers, the Oval revenues have been on an upward financial trajectory with the 2015 performance continuing that trend. In 2015 we continued to work closely and collaboratively with our stakeholders and sport groups to enhance our programs and services, to strengthen our membership base and to expand our reach through diversification of our offerings. It is gratifying to see continued growth in these areas. Of particular note in 2015 was the successful bid to become the training centre for Volleyball Canada’s Women’s National Team, and the launch of the three much-anticipated new lines of business: the lobby retail store (ROX Shop), the dedicated yoga studio and the grand opening of the Richmond Olympic Experience, which saw over 3,000 visits from Richmond residents in its first weekend.

I am very honoured and excited to have been selected as the Chef de W Mission for Team Ontario at the 2007 Canada Winter Games. The Canada Games are this country’s premier multi-sport event. It will be the first time in the history of the Games that they will be hosted in a Territory. The City of Whitehorse and the Yukon is well on their way to organizing a historic and successful Games on Vision Statement behalf of our country. Yukon people are proud to be hosting the 2007 Canada Winter Our goal as Team Ontario is to provide each and every one of our athletes, coaches Games, celebrating excellence, our northern cultures and traditions, and managers with an incredible experience at the Games. The team is very enthusiastic and motivated to make these Games a Synchro Swim Ontario 3 announces 2007 CWG team valuable and memorable experience for all. We are currently exploring the possibility of hosting a Team Ontario training camp New lottery helps Team 4 where all sports can come together for mandatory training, such as Ontario’s “Quest for Gold” drug free sport, human rights and media training sessions.
