“TOP 10” Awardee News & Events September 2019 NEWS: • Miguel Aguilar (2012 3Arts/Siragusa Foundation Awardee) was interviewed about his graffiti work on Windy City Live (including footage of his 3AP-funded mural at 2:46). • Sophia Nahli Allison (2014 3Arts/Southwest Airlines Awardee)’s new documentary A Love Song for Latasha won “Best Short Documentary” at the 2019 BlackStar Film Fest. • Sandra Delgado (2018 3Arts Community Awardee) begins her year-long stint as Loyola Artist in Residence, in which she’s teaching a class and working with students on a new play. • Leslie Dunner (2009 3Arts/Northern Trust Awardee) conducted Central Park Five, an operatic retelling of the 1989 assault case, this June at the Warner Grand Theatre in San Pedro, California. • Benji Hart (2015 3Arts/Irene Siragusa Phelps Awardee) has been selected by the Amsterdam University of the Arts to be an artist-in-residence where they’ll be teaching a weeklong intensive entitled performance as protest/protest as performance and remounting their solo performance piece Dancer As Insurgent. CHICAGO PARK DISTRICT SPECIAL EVENT PERMIT APPLICATION PERMIT APPLICATION PROCESS HIGHLIGHTS Special event permit levels, definitions, fee schedule, and additional information can be found starting on page 13. 1. Visit www.chicagoparkdistrict.com/permits-rentals. Purchase the $35.00, “2020 Permit Application Fee”. 2. The initial review process takes a minimum of 14 days. Pending permit of event is sent via email. 3. Upon receipt of pending permit, additional fees (listed on page 18) and documents are due according to the deadlines below. 4. Most events are required to obtain insurance. 5. Once all the Park District’s requirements have been fulfilled, the Chicago Park District will issue its Special Event Permit for the event via email. 6. Security deposit will be submitted for processing within 30 business days after the event. LaSalle St., City Hall Room 201-A, Chicago, Illinois. The meeting began at 12:50 p.m. PHYSICALLY PRESENT: Rafael Leon, Chairman John Baird, Secretary Tony Hu James Houlihan (arrived after item 1) Ernest Wong Anita Blanchard Christopher Reed Mary Ann Smith Andrew Mooney, Commissioner of the Department of Housing and Economic Development ALSO PHYSICALLY PRESENT: Eleanor Gorski, Assistant Commissioner, Department of Housing and Economic Development, Historic Preservation Division Arthur Dolinsky, Department of Law, Real Estate Division Members of the Public (The list of those in attendance is on file at the Commission office.) Fremont Street Resolution to adopt the Final Landmark Recommendation to City Council that the MARTIN SCHNITZIUS COTTAGE be designated as a Chicago Landmark. Alderman Michelle Smith, (43rd Ward), within whose ward the building is located, expressed support for the designation. Michael Spock on behalf of the Barbara Spock Trust, the property owner, also expressed support for the landmark designation. -
