only download apps in play on wifi Cannot download apps on Play Store without WiFi. If I browse the Play Store, using my mobile data network, then the Play Store always asks me if I want to download the app over WiFi because it is a very large app. Whether I tick or untick the box to use WiFi for the download, doesn't matter, the result stays the same : my phone waits for a WiFi connection. My phone does this for almost every app. It only allows me to download apps under 1MB or something to be downloaded using the mobile data network. How can I increase this limit? I have this behaviour on every ROM version. In my settings I also allow auto-updates over the data network. Sent from my Xiaomi MI-2S. wtfhax. Members. ZoXoR. Members. Thanks! That worked! I can select a file size up to 1GB in the setting so that will surely be enough. Sent from my Xiaomi MI-2S. Really_Wacky. Members. I cant get this to work and it is really p****ng me off! You should try directly from TOOLS folder (first screen if you haven't moved it), Inside the folder select DOWNLOAD, tap GEAR icon on top right. you should be able to set download to unlimited there. How about with mi4? Please give solution. kokwon. Members. Same fix as posted by members above - this definitely works for MI phone. I have personally tried it . It got nothing to do with play store setting . setting is under MI phone "download" icon. this is an easy fix, and it can be found by going to the Downloads app. Once in here click the little gear icon on the top right of the app to enter the settings for the app, and you’ll find the data usage slider right there. This controls all data usage and downloads on a system level, and I’ve found that even with WiFi on it will often restrict your downloads until it feels confident that you aren’t using a metered cell data connection. This was even the case with hotspots for me, as it assumed that was actually a metered cell data connection and wouldn’t allow me to download anything. Setting this to a more reasonable limit than 1MB is great, but if you want to disable it altogether you can just change it to unlimited. Now you should be able to download anything you want on any connection that makes you feel good, so get to it! Unable to download apps from google playstore via wifi. I assure that the problem is not with the device. It have lots of memory space, so its not insufficient-memory error. And apps can be downloaded in mobile data. I followed the steps which is provided in trouble shooting page for "495". But no luck. Anyone give me a clear idea why the apps are not able to download via WiFi only? 4 Answers 4. I faced this same problem a while ago. I could think of two things here. 1. In my case, I had problem with my router. Other devices connected to the same router had no issues. I had to reset the router and everything worked fine after connecting the device back to it. 2. Then, you say you have 'Clear cache data from playstore app' but have you cleared the cache of all applications? try something like 'cc cleaner'. May be some old installation /folders of the app you are trying to download, in this case chrome browser, might be causing this problem. Play Store not downloading app without wifi. There are two things to check. Go into Settings from the Play Store app's menu. At the time the question was written, the third one down is Update over Wi-Fi only . Turn this off if you want to download apps over a cellular internet connection. In more recent Play Store versions, it's at the top of the list: it says Auto-update apps , and the default is Auto-update apps over Wi-Fi only . You need to change this to Auto-update apps at any time. Data charges may apply. Apps larger than a certain size (I think 50 MB) only download over Wi-Fi regardless of this setting. (The Play Store app will prompt you if you try to download a large app and you're not on Wi-Fi.) This applies to lots of games but not many applications. The reasoning behind all of these restrictions is because many users pay per kb of data, or they pay extra if they go over a limit. The default behaviour is safe and avoids surprising users with large bills. Enable or Disable Download over WiFi Only in Google Play for HTC One M8. Hello and welcome to VisiHow.
