    DANUBE POLLUTION REDUCTION PROGRAMME NATIONAL REVIEWS 1998 BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry in cooperation with the Programme Coordination Unit UNDP/GEF Assistance DANUBE POLLUTION REDUCTION PROGRAMME NATIONAL REVIEWS 1998 BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry in cooperation with the Programme Coordination Unit UNDP/GEF Assistance Preface The National Reviews were designed to produce basic data and information for the elaboration of the Pollution Reduction Programme (PRP), the Transboundary Analysis and the revision of the Strategic Action Plan of the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR). Particular attention was also given to collect data and information for specific purposes concerning the development of the Danube Water Quality Model, the identification and evaluation of hot spots, the analysis of social and economic factors, the preparation of an investment portfolio and the development of financing mechanisms for the implementation of the ICPDR Action Plan. For the elaboration of the National Reviews, a team of national experts was recruited in each of the participating countries for a period of one to four months covering the following positions: Socio-economist with knowledge in population studies, Financial expert (preferably from the Ministry of Finance), Water Quality Data expert/information specialist, Water Engineering expert with knowledge in project development. Each of the experts had to organize his or her work under the supervision of the respective Country Programme Coordinator and with the guidance of a team of International Consultants. The tasks were laid out in specific Terms of Reference. At a Regional Workshop in Budapest from 27 to 29 January 1998, the national teams and the group of international consultants discussed in detail the methodological approach and the content of the National Reviews to assure coherence of results.

MINUTES OF THE MEETING LOCAL PROJECT APPRAISAL COMMITTEE Project: Increasing resilience of Livno, Mrkonjić Grad and Maglaj Project ID: BHl0/00110813 Summary of the meeting Introduction Mr. Avdić, UNDP BiH Sector Leader for Energy and Environment initiated the meeting by informing all participants of the Local Programme Advisory Committee (LPAC) that Project "Increasing resilience of Livno, Mrkonjić Grad and Maglaj" received Endorsement of the Czech Government. Expected start of the Project is 15 August 2018. Mr. Avdic stressed out that presenting the project activities, methodology and implementation modalities to LPAC, is a formal precondition and underlined the importance of local partners role within this project. Presentation of the Project Document Project budget is EUR 100,000 and anticipated duration is 12 months starting from 15 August 2018 and ending on 14 August 2019. The project would use the Direct Implementation Modality (DIM). The Project Board will be comprised of the following institutions: Ministry of Security of BiH, Civil Protection Directorate/Administration of FBIH, Civil Protection Directorate/Administration of RS, the Czech Republic Humanitarian Aid and UNDP. Project would lean and build on vast and successful UNDP ORR efforts in the local communities. In particular, the project will be closely interlinked with all relevant on-going and planned ORR related projects to secure alignment of results, efficiency, avoid duplication of efforts and ensure contribution to overall strategic direction. Overall objective of the project is to strengthen disaster risk reduction (ORR) capacities at all government levels in BiH and citizens, with focus on vulnerable categories.

Also, the article tries to throw a little more light on this notion, through a multidisciplinary view on the part of the population that has been named Vlachs in the past or present. The goal is to create an image of what they really are, and what they have never been, through a specific chronological historical overview of data related to the Vlachs. Thus, it allows the reader to understand, through the facts presented here, the misconceptions that are related to this term in the historiographic literature. Life standard in the social and economic spheres transposes contradiction in the political system. Departure of professional forces abroad and losing most vital segments of the population in whose education and training is spent a fifth of the budget. Quality of life depends on many factors, of which in this paper we point out: the conditions in which we work and live, housing and health conditions, possibilities to meet the cultural, sports, entertainment, and numerous other requirements and needs of a modern man. Economic sphere determines the standard of living of every man. Key words: employment, black market work, life standard, poverty, sustainable levels, occupations Introduction Unemployment is a direct cause of the poor state of the economy and thus society. The causes of unemployment are numerous, among which we highlight those that directly or indirectly impact on unemployment: • In the war devastated economic capacity with outdated technology, without the experts who carried the development, • Lost earlier market and demand for goods and services, • Poor business environment after the war and privatization, • Weakness in the international division of labor and lack of competitiveness in the market • Lack of basic and working capital for investment and development, • Educational system adapted to the needs, requirements and possibilities of the economy, • Targeting on imports and strengthening the consumer society instead of the production and service economy.
