Montevideo Montevideo is the capital of Montevideo and is not far from Buenos Aires. This city is located just further in the south than Buenos Aires and is the most southern capital of Latin America. The capital of Uruguay has a rich culture where you can discover a lot and is different from Buenos Aires because it is smaller and quieter. You can visit Montevideo perfectly in 2 days during your stay in Buenos Aires. Day 1 6.45 Take bus 93 at Avenida Paseo Colón 602-700, this is located at 260 meters from Via Via Hostel. After 14 minutes (6 stops) you have to get off at Avenida Leandro N. Alem 723-769, this is in front of the Buquebus Terminal. 7.05 Arrival at Buquebus Terminal. Here you do the check-in at Seacat. 8.00 Departure with ferry to Colonia. 9.00 Arrival at Colonia. In front of this building you see different buses. Here you take the bus from Seacat to Montevideo for 3 hours. 12.00 Arrival at Tres Cruces in Montevideo. Here you can take a taxi to the hostel. This is around 120-160 Uruguayan pesos which is 4-5 euros. 12.30 Arrival at MedioMundo Hostel. You can check-in and relax at your room. A little bit further you can find a supermarket and a couple of small restaurants for lunch. 14.00 You can go to the center with a taxi for example to Plaza Indepencia. From here you can discover the old city with Rambla, Teatro Solis, the street Sarandí with a couple of shops, PlaZa Independencia itself, the principal street 18 de Julio, PlaZa MatiZ,… 17.00 After the walk in the city you can go back to the hostel. 19.30 For dinner you can choose a restaurant. A good restaurant with a lot of choice is La Taberna del Diablo, this is located at a 5-minute walk from the hostel. 21.00 After dinner you can go back to the hostel or to a bar to drink something. A good bar is Brickell, at a 8-minute walk from the restaurant. Day 2 9.00 Breakfast at the hostel. 11.00 Check-out. In the hostel you can rent bikes for a couple of hours to discover the city a little bit more. For 4 hours it is 250 Uruguayan pesos and this is around 8 euros. A couple of examples you can discover with the bike are Montevideo Sign (Letrero Montevideo), Playa Pocitos, Muelle Puerto del Buceo,… 13.00 For lunch you can buy something in the supermarket or a restaurant. 15.00 Back at the hostel to return the bikes. After this you can go for a small walk to Lago del Parque Rodó, this is located at a 4-minute walk from the hostel. 16.15 Departure with the taxi to tres Cruces. 17.00 Check-in for the trip back to Buenos Aires. Here you take the bus from Seacat to Montevideo. Before you leave you can eat something in the terminal. 21.00 Ferry from Colonia to Buenos Aires. 22.00 Arrival at Buenos Aires. From here you can take bus 152, 61 or 130 to the Via Via Hostel. .
