Montevideo Montevideo is the capital of Montevideo and is not far from Buenos Aires. This city is located just further in the south than Buenos Aires and is the most southern capital of Latin America. The capital of Uruguay has a rich culture where you can discover a lot and is different from Buenos Aires because it is smaller and quieter. You can visit Montevideo perfectly in 2 days during your stay in Buenos Aires. Day 1 6.45 Take bus 93 at Avenida Paseo Colón 602-700, this is located at 260 meters from Via Via Hostel. After 14 minutes (6 stops) you have to get off at Avenida Leandro N. Alem 723-769, this is in front of the Buquebus Terminal. 7.05 Arrival at Buquebus Terminal. Here you do the check-in at Seacat. 8.00 Departure with ferry to Colonia. 9.00 Arrival at Colonia. In front of this building you see different buses. Here you take the bus from Seacat to Montevideo for 3 hours. 12.00 Arrival at Tres Cruces in Montevideo. Here you can take a taxi to the hostel. This is around 120-160 Uruguayan pesos which is 4-5 euros. 12.30 Arrival at MedioMundo Hostel. You can check-in and relax at your room. A little bit further you can find a supermarket and a couple of small restaurants for lunch. 14.00 You can go to the center with a taxi for example to Plaza Indepencia. From here you can discover the old city with Rambla, Teatro Solis, the street Sarandí with a couple of shops, PlaZa Independencia itself, the principal street 18 de Julio, PlaZa MatiZ,… 17.00 After the walk in the city you can go back to the hostel. 19.30 For dinner you can choose a restaurant. A good restaurant with a lot of choice is La Taberna del Diablo, this is located at a 5-minute walk from the hostel. 21.00 After dinner you can go back to the hostel or to a bar to drink something. A good bar is Brickell, at a 8-minute walk from the restaurant. Day 2 9.00 Breakfast at the hostel. 11.00 Check-out. In the hostel you can rent bikes for a couple of hours to discover the city a little bit more. For 4 hours it is 250 Uruguayan pesos and this is around 8 euros. A couple of examples you can discover with the bike are Montevideo Sign (Letrero Montevideo), Playa Pocitos, Muelle Puerto del Buceo,… 13.00 For lunch you can buy something in the supermarket or a restaurant. 15.00 Back at the hostel to return the bikes. After this you can go for a small walk to Lago del Parque Rodó, this is located at a 4-minute walk from the hostel. 16.15 Departure with the taxi to tres Cruces. 17.00 Check-in for the trip back to Buenos Aires. Here you take the bus from Seacat to Montevideo. Before you leave you can eat something in the terminal. 21.00 Ferry from Colonia to Buenos Aires. 22.00 Arrival at Buenos Aires. From here you can take bus 152, 61 or 130 to the Via Via Hostel. .

Cruiser’s Port Guide To Piriapolis, Uruguay Compliments of Seven Seas Cruising Association (SSCA) Updated March 2008 Welcome to Puerto Piriapolis, Uruguay! If any word describes the country of Uruguay and its people, the word is “tranquilo”. Founded as a resort town for wealthy Argentinos by entrepreneur Francisco Piria in the 1930’s, Piriapolis is a no- hassle, low-key spot to leave your boat for an extended period or do boat work, but make sure you bring your supplies with you. Approach & marina: Hail Piriapolis Port Control on Channel 16. It’s hit or miss whether they will answer. The entry is straightforward, but watch for shallow areas between the beach and breakwater. Waypoint for the breakwater is 34S52.5/055W17.0. Tie-up is fore and aft with two mooring buoys aft and wharf tie-up on bollards forward. There is no help from any marina staff or the Prefectura so be prepared to tie up yourself although many times other cruisers are available to lend a hand. If you come in at night, there is a fuel dock just south of the TraveLift at which you can tie up till morning. Formalities: A Prefectura representative will usually be waiting on the dock for you to accept your “zarpe” paperwork. If arriving from another country, you must visit Customs (located in the building behind the marina complex), the marina office on the premises, the Prefectura’s office (1/2 mile from the marina) and Immigration, which is a cab or bus ride away at the Punta del Este airport.

The government and the private sector are confident that the bill will increase the infrastructure that Uruguay currently requires to sustain its economic growth. This new mechanism will allow private enterprises to participate during the early stages of a project affording them the opportunity to make contributions to adjust to their particular needs. We outline some of the bill’s main features below. A PPP contract between the public sector and private enterprises (domestic or foreign) is specifically designed for the implementation and development of public infrastructure projects and related services (PPP projects). Consequently, PPP contracts are those in which the public administration will contract a natural or legal person for the design, construction and operation of infrastructure projects (in addition to financing), for a specific period of time.
