BAKER BOY KICKS OFF HOTA’S NEW LIVE MUSIC PROGRAM “LAKESIDE SESSIONS”

HOTA’s live music program is turning up a notch with the announcement of Baker Boy, one of Australia’s greatest rising hip-hop stars, taking to the stage on August 4 for a new Sunday “Lakeside Session” alongside special guests Ella Fence and DJ Siege Jr.

The event marks the first of many live artist bookings at HOTA after teaming up with Footstomp Music Director, Graham Ashton (Asho), to elevate its prominence as a leading music venue earlier this year.

After what seems to be a whirlwind of success for the emerging twenty-two-year-old rapper and hip-hop artist, including a win for 2019 Young , next month marks the exclusive one-off performance for Baker Boy on the Gold Coast.

“HOTA is building its reputation for live music and it’s a real coup for the Gold Coast to secure such a multi-talented artist like Baker Boy, who has the industry talking and is fast becoming one of the country’s biggest hip-hop stars,” said Asho.

“We know that there’s a big appetite for live music on the Gold Coast and Baker Boy’s HOTA debut is a great way to officially kick of our Lakeside Sessions and draw in the crowds.”

Baker Boy is known as the multi-talented, multi-lingual artist from the remote communities of the , who raps in Matha language representing his bloodlines.

The strikingly talented artist is on an undeniable rise, after kick starting his career in 2018 with two of his songs – Marryuna and Cloud 9 – marking their place on ’s Hottest 100.

Known for working across rap, dance, acting and graffiti, the young artist has embraced his culture and received industry praise after winning over twenty-one key awards across the country.

He has supported the likes of 50 cent and Dizzee Rascal, as well as played a multitude of prime festival slots at Splendour in the Grass, Laneway, Golden Plains and WOMADelaide – in addition to selling out his first headline tour in May last year.

“We promised to deliver bigger and better artists as part of the live music program and Baker Boy is just the beginning,” Asho said.

Baker Boy will perform in the Lakeside Room at HOTA on Sunday 4th August, 2019 at 6.30pm following supporting acts and special guests, Ella Fence and DJ Siege Jr, on stage from 3pm.
