Poll Automation: Handa Ka Na Ba? Vol. 5 No. 2 Opisyal na Publikasyon ng Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig February 2010 Poll Automation: Handa ka na ba? Sa bisa ng Republic Act No. 9369 o Amended Automation Election Law isang fully computerized na eleksyon ang aasahan ng buong Pilipinas sa darating na Mayo 10, 2010. Noong nakaraang eleksyon (Mayo 2007) pa sana ipatutupad ang automated election ngunit ito’y ipinagpaliban ng Commission on Elections dahil sa kakulangan nila ng panahon para sa paghahanda. At ngayon ay handang handa na nga ba COMELEC para sa poll automation, ang nananatiling katanungan ay ang kahandaan ng masang Pilipino na boboto. Ang Precinct Counting Optical Scan o PCOS ang sistemang gagamitin ng COMELEC. Dito, kinakailangan lamang itiman ng botante ang bilog na katapat ng pangalan ng kandidato na nasa isang specially printed na balota. Pagkatapos, ang balota ay ipapasok sa isang PCOS machine o optical mark reader na siya ngayong magbibilang ng mga boto.
