Mr. Jesse Edward Sellers, age 66, of Shelbyville, died Thursday, January 01, 2009, at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee.

Memorial services will be 4 PM Sunday, January 4, 2009, at Victory Celebration Revival Church. Reverend Carl Hall will officiate.

Visitation will be 3 PM Sunday until time of service.

He was born July 29, 1942, in Jefferson County, Tennessee, to the late J. Paul and Billie Ruth Leek Sellers. He was a retired car salesman and member of Victory Celebration Revival Church.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Linda Shelley Sellers, of Shelbyville; two sons, Darrell Edward (Alice) Sellers, of Murfreesboro and James Kevin (Linda) Sellers, of Unionville; a daughter, Rachel Fitzgerald (Matt) Reed, of Shelbyville; six grandchildren, Marshall Reed, Zoe Reed, Stephanie Sellers, Jamie Jernigan, Sarah Jernigan, and Ricky Valleho.

Mr. Bobby Joe Hasty, age 68, of Shelbyville, died Thursday, January 01, 2009, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.

He was born April 4, 1940, in Bedford County, to the late Cecil Roscoe and Katie Ruth Nelson Hasty. He was retired from Empire Pencil Company and attended Calvary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Betty Hardrick Hasty of Shelbyville; a son, Andy Lee, of San Francisco, ; a daughter, Kathy (Kenny) Lamb, of Shelbyville; a three sisters, Mary Frances Curbow, of Wartrace, Helen Hasty and Dianna Darnell, both of Shelbyville; two grandchildren, Chasity Lamb Solomon and Bo Lamb; his faithful companion, “Buddy”.

She was born November 25, 1914, in Bedford County, to the late Charles A. and Isabel Locke Molder. She was a homemaker and member of Unionville United Methodist Church. She loved to put together jig saw puzzles and taking care of her family.

She was the wife of the late Walter C. ‘Bud” Scales who passed way in 1979. A son, Alton David Scales, two sisters, Maude Crowell and Catherine Cartwright, and a brother, Charlie Molder, also preceded her in death.

She is survived by four daughters, Isabelle (Earl) Pewitt, Connie (F.Z.) King, Nancy (William) Heflin, and Helen (Kary) Collier, all of Shelbyville; a son, Rodney (Myrna) Scales, of Greenville, Pennsylvania; a sister, Marie Molder Timmerman, of Green Bay, Wisconsin; eleven grandchildren, Brent Pewitt, Sharon (Brad) Greer, Janet (Andy) Clarkson, Eric Scales, Todd (Sarah) Scales, Melanie Scales, Kelley Heflin, Robert Heflin, Barbara Heflin, Kevin (Kristie) Collier, and Bryan (Karri) Collier; nine great grandchildren, Bradley and Abby Greer, Kennedy Elizabeth Clarkson, Colton and Sawyer Scales, and Jarrett, Jacey, Morgan, and Drew Collier; her caregiver, Millie Burleson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Debbie Myers, age 66, of the Flat Creek Community, died Thursday, January 15, 2009, at her home after a five year battle with ovarian cancer.

She was born December 21, 1942, in Richmond, Virginia, to the late James J. and Ethelmae Brady Doherty. She was owner and chief manager of Gates Development, LLC, a homemaker, and owner, breeder, trainer, and exhibitor of Tennessee Walking Horses for over 37 years. She was a true animal lover.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Jim Myers, of the Flat Creek Community; six children, James (Lynn) Myers, Jr. of Huntington Harbor, California, Julie (John) Bruun, of Solana Beach, California, Michael (Erin) Myers, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Alessandra (Tom) Carter, of Atlanta, Georgia, Felippe (Gabriella) Marques, of Los Angeles, California, and Dr. Andrew (Blair) Myers, of Birmingham, Alabama; ten grandchildren.

Mrs. Keith was born August 8, 1923 in Winchester Tennessee to the late Ollie and Helen Teague.

She was a nurse technician with the Rutherford County Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Stanley Adams, and her second husband, Ernest Franklin Keith.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Terry Lee Adams and Charles Adams, and a daughter, Nettie Faye Johns.

She is survived by five grandchildren, Jimmy Hoover, Lee Hoover, and Katherine Diane Martin, all of Shelbyville, and Rochelle Cardin and Charles (Chuck) Adams, both of Murfreesboro.

Mr. Thomas Anthony Drewek, age 68, of Tullahoma, formerly of New Jersey, died Saturday, January 17, 2009, at Harton Regional Medical Center in Tullahoma.

Per his request, his remains were cremated. There will be no services.

He was the son of Anthony and Loretta Danhauser Drewek. He was a retired salesman for Brown-Forman. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Casper Drewek, of New Jersey. He is also survived by two sons, Tony Drewek of Katy, Texas, Pete (Debbie Woods) Drewek of Shelbyville, and daughter, Amy (Danny) Moore of Tullahoma, Tennessee. He is also survived by two brothers, Richard Drewek of Wisconsin, and David Drewek of Vermont, and six grandchildren, Jacob Drewek, Davis Drewek, Nicholas Moore, Jonathan Woods, Josh Woods, and Katie Woods.

He was born March 22, 1921, in Buffalo, , to the late Victor George Skultety and Elsie E. Szkurka Skultety. He was a graduate of the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa and a metallurgist in the steel industry.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite Skultety in October 2007.

He is survived by a son, Eric (Deanna L. Printz) Skultety, of Stilwell, Kansas; two daughters, Sue. A. (Gordon K.) Bishop, of Woodstock, Georgia, and Diane E. (Mark A.) She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and GREAT MOM.

She was preceded in death by a brother, James Robert Snoddy and sister in law, Phyllis Snoddy.

She is survived by three daughters, Janice J. Cole, Jennifer Jordan, and Deborah J. Mr. John Thomas Pope, age 84, of Shelbyville, died Sunday, February 15, 2009, at Heritage Medical Center.

He was born August 16, 1924, in Chapel Hill, Tennessee, to the late Gran M. and Willie Tucker Pope. He was an Army Veteran of World War II and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was also a founding member of Riverbend Country Club, a member of the Bedford County Industrial Board, and held membership in the Disabled American Veterans Association. He began his barber career in the old Gunter Building and was still practicing after 71 years. He attended the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer and Southside Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lorene Sullivan Pope after fifty years of marriage, and also by his second wife of ten years, Margaret Brown Pope. He was also preceded in death by a brother, James Doyle Pope.

He is survived by a son, John McClain Pope, and his wife, Jackie, of Murfreesboro, and a daughter, Linda Martin, of Clinton, Mississippi; six grandchildren, McClain Pope, Melinda Pope, Matt Pope, and Michael Pope, all of Murfreesboro, and Jessica McKercher, of Brandon, Mississippi, and Anna Harkins, of Madison, Mississippi; a great grandchild, Mya Hopkins.

Mr. James C. Scott, age 92, of Shelbyville, entered into eternal rest Saturday, February 21, 2009, at his home after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Tuesday, February 24, 2009, at Fairlane Church of Christ. Geoff Giesemann and Russ Countess will officiate, with burial to follow in Wilkes Cemetery in Culleoka, Tennessee.

Visitation will be 4-8 PM Monday at Fairlane church of Christ.

He was born March 31, 1916, in Culleoka, to the late Allen Burnley Scott and Bessie Bell Matthews Scott. He was a retired Educator with the State of Tennessee and had a long and impressive career. He was a graduate of Culleoka High School in 1935, and a graduate of Middle Tennessee College. He was a veteran of the Air Force serving from 1942 -1946, and in World War II. He married Jean Thaxton on November 11, 1944 and they were together until her passing in January 2008.

His teaching career began in with the fourth grade at Andrews Elementary School from 1937 until 1940. He was then Principal at Highland Park Elementary School from 1940 – 1942. He was principal at Whitthorne Jr. High from 1947-1958, principal at White County High 1958-1959, and principal at Marshall County High School from 1959-1966. He then became principal at Shelbyville Central High School where he served from 1966 until 1975. In 1979, he retired from Tennessee Preparatory School, bringing an end to a career in education than endured 42 1/2 years.

He held interim positions as Superintendent of Tennessee Children’s Home, Principal at Columbia Academy, and Principal at Eakin Primary School.

He loved to work on the farm and did so most all of his life. He owned and managed J & J Farms from 1967-2002.

He was past president of the Education Associations in Marshall, Maury, and Bedford Counties. He was also past president of the Bedford County Retired Teachers Association. At one time he was a member of the Rotary Club in Lewisburg, Sparta, and has been active in the Shelbyville Rotary Club since 1966. He was an active member of the Tennessee Farm Bureau in Marshall and Bedford Counties.

He was a member of the Church of Christ since 1932, where he served as a Deacon of Church Street Church in Lewisburg. He became an Elder for the old Main Street Church of Christ in 1972, and was still active in his church, Fairlane Church of Christ.

He is survived by a son, Ronald Thaxton Scott, and his wife, Kathy, of Rockvale, and a daughter, Jeanie Elizabeth Raymond, and her husband Glenn, of Lewisburg; a brother, Donald Matthews Scott, of Columbia and a sister, Dr. Margaret Butler, of Roswell, Georgia; four grandchildren, Josh Fitzgerald, Josh Scott, Jordan Scott, and Hannah Scott; three great grandchildren, Isabella Fitzgerald, Jackson Scott, and Cohen Scott.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Katherine Goss in 2008, and his second wife, Peggy Leverette Pugh in 1997. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kitty Diane Lovvorn and a brother, Paul Pugh.

She was preceded by her husband Comer Hord in 2001, and a daughter, Shirley Hord.

She is survived by two sons, Comer ‘Squeaky” Hord, and Joe Hord, both of Wartrace; two daughters, Margaret Norton and Faye Buckingham, both of Shelbyville; a sister, Lynda Johnson, of Shelbyville; her caregivers, Krista Hord and Phillip Sutherland; ten grandchildren, and numerous great and great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, Daniel Pethoud, and his wife Bonny, a sister, Jolene Pethod; grandmother, Jean Gray; a niece, Danni Pethoud and a nephew, Jonathan Pethoud, all of Beatrice, Nebraska; her companion, Bob “Foxy” Carter, of Shelbyville; and her ex-husband and good friend, Doug Mason, of Shelbyville.

She was the wife of Olen Rose, who passed away in 1971, and the mother of, Charles “Bubba” Rose, who died in 1999. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Elmer Spurgeon, Grady Spurgeon, Boyd Spurgeon, and Coy Spurgeon, and two sisters, Amy Bryant and Annie Clayton.

She was born June 9, 1920, in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, to the late James and Hattie Clayton Spurgeon. She was retired from Southside School Cafeteria, and kept children in her home. She loved to play bingo and was the “Ultimate Nanny”. She was a member of Cannon United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son, Harold (Kay) Rose, of Shelbyville; three grandchildren, Tina (Trevan) Townsend, of Brentwood, Mike (Kristy) Rose, of Franklin, and Matthew Rose, of Deason; three great grandchildren, Adam Townsend, Grey Townsend, and Grace Rose; a sister in law, Wynelle Spurgeon, of Toledo, Ohio.

He was born July 4, 1931, in Pontiac, Michigan, to the late Carl E. and Eva Aderholdt. He was a retired police officer with the city of Poughkeepsie, New York, and then worked with the Dutchess County Highway Department and Traffic Safety Board, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the United States Marine Corp and served in the Korean War. He was an active member of St. William Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanor Aderholdt, after 43 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and a sister, Lamar Aderholdt, and Eldon Aderholdt and Bernice Conti, and a sister in law and brother in law, Maxine Aderholdt and Louis Conti. Fay Lawson Crismon was born September 16, 1923 in Bedford County, Tennessee. He was the son of the late Charlie and Alberta Hodge Crismon. He departed this life on Monday, March 30, 2009.

Fay received his early education at Union Ridge School in Wartrace, Tennessee. He enlisted in the United States Army on April 2, 1943 serving in the Battle of New Guinea, World War II. He was wounded on August 11, 1945 while serving his country; this resulted in the lost his left arm. He received several honors for his service: Purple Heart, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Bronze Battle Star and Good Conduct Medal.

He was united in holy matrimony to his sweetheart, Dorothy Lorraine Crismon on October 16, 1949. This year would have marked their 60 year anniversary. To this union two children were born. One son, Larry James Crismon, Sr, preceded him in death on March 23, 2009. His sister, Charlene (Ma Dear) Green, also preceded him in death on January 15, 2000.

In his early years he attended Union Ridge Church of God in Christ. In his later years, he started fellowshipping with Bright Temple Church of God in Christ. He was a faithful member of the Men’s Sunday School Class until he was unable to attend due to his illness.

He was born May 15, 1983, in Murfreesboro, to Gary Crumbie and Shelia Maupin, of Shelbyville. He was a 2001 graduate of Shelbyville Central High School. He was presently enrolled in Draughons Jr. College in Nashville and was to graduate at the end of this year. He was also employed with Food Lion as manager of the Dairy Section.

He is survived by his mother, Shelia Maupin, of Shelbyville; a brother, Malik Gates and a sister, Olisha Maupin, both of Shelbyville. Several aunts and uncles and great aunts and uncles and cousins are also left to mourn his passing.

He was graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, held a Master’s Degree from Vanderbilt-Peabody University. He taught at Ouatchia Baptist College in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, and was then a principal in the Bedford County School System. He was a member of First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Elizabeth Carlen McLean, age 88, of Shelbyville, died Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville.

Mrs. McLean was born November 13, 1920, in Cookeville, Tennessee, to the late Alfred Algood Carlen and Elizabeth Reams Cox Carlen. She was one of three daughters, her sisters being Margaret Alice Carlen Maddux and Catherine Cox Carlen Cox, both deceased. She married Robert Brank McLean on May 22, 1959, and they were together until his passing in 1990.

She attended Tennessee Technology University from 1938-1940, and completed her education at Vanderbilt University in 1942. In her first job, Mrs. McLean worked for then- Representative Albert Gore, Sr., in Washington, D.C. She was an interior designer in Chattanooga, having trained at the Ecole des Beaux Arts at Fontainebleau, France, a homemaker and faithful member of First United Methodist Church, where she was presently serving as Circle President.

She served on the Board of Trustees of Martin Methodist College from 1993-2005, and received the President's Medallion in 2006. She was an active member of the Tennessee Technology President's Club at the Derryberry Level since 1984. She held membership in the Volunteer Garden Club, Thursday Book Club, Shelbyville Women's Club and Historic Preservation Society for Shelbyville-Bedford County. She was an active member of the Argie Cooper Library Board, Frist Visual Arts Center and Tuesday Morning Bridge Club, and she was the recipient of the Good Citizens Award from the Chamber of Commerce in Shelbyville.

Mrs. McLean is survived by nephews and nieces of the Carlen and McLean families.

She was a member of the Shiloh Methodist Women’s Ladies group. She had 49 years perfect attendance at Shiloh United Methodist Church where she was a member.

She married Marvin Edward ‘Jack” Pickle, on November 28, 1935, and were together for 58 years before his passing in 1993.

She is survived by a daughter, Charlene Judd, and her husband, Malcolm, of Shelbyville; a grandson, Matthew Charles Rose, of Shelbyville; nieces and nephews, William L. She was Commander of the Women’s Air Corp in the South Pacific, and involved in the breaking of the Japanese Code.

She was born May 19, 1923, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Herbert and Rosie Lee Lovvorn Modrall. She was retired after 34 years of service from American Can Company (CEBAL). Mrs. Fox also worked with the hosiery mill in Bell Buckle for many years. She held membership in the Bell Buckle Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl M. Fox, in 1986, and two brothers, John Edward Modrall and Franklin Modrall.

She is survived by a son, Carl Fox, Jr. and his wife Sheila, of Lynchburg; a sister, Jeanette Thompson, and her husband Ewing, of Shelbyville; two grandchildren, Chris Fox, and his wife Chrissie, and Dawn Dye, and her husband Billy, all of Shelbyville; four great grandchildren, Kaleigh Dye, Jason Fox, Josh Fox, and Earon Kincade.

James White Elkins

1925-2009

James White Elkins was born on January 19, 1925 to Robert Lee Elkins and Lucy Pruitt Elkins in Bell Buckle, Tennessee. He has been a life long resident of Bell Buckle and member of the Bell Buckle United Methodist Church. He attended Bell Buckle Elementary School and graduated from Bell Buckle High School in 1943.

James entered the U.S. Army in October of 1943 and was assigned to the 276th Combat Engineers Battalion. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and helped push Hitler’s army out of Belgium and back to the Rhine River. On March 17, 1945, James was injured while repairing the Ludendorff Bridge in Remagen, Germany. The bridge collapsed after repeated attempts by the German troops to destroy it. James was awarded numerous medals and awards, including the Purple Heart, an ETO Ribbon with three battle stars, and the Presidential Unit Citation.

When James returned to Bell Buckle in 1946, he reunited with his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Powell, and they were married on August 29, 1946. In 1948, James opened the Elkins Garage, which he operated for 25 years. In 1950, he became Bell Buckle’s first Fire Chief, a position he held until 1992. James continued to support the Bell Buckle Fire Department after his retirement, and the new fire hall was named for, and dedicated to, him on October 8, 2006.

James was an active Mason and member of the Al Menah Shrine Temple. He was proud of the work he participated in as a shriner.

James is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Dorothy Powell Elkins, and son, Robert “Bobby” Elkins. He was a loving husband and father, a dear friend to many, and a brave veteran. James truly touched many lives and will be missed and remembered by many.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 6, 2009, 5:00-9:00 PM, at Bell Buckle United Methodist Church. The funeral service will be Thursday, May 7, 2009, at 11:00 AM at Bell Buckle United Methodist Church, and a graveside service will follow at Hazel Cemetery in Bell Buckle, TN. Officiants will be the Reverends Elizabeth “Beth” Ezell, Lawrence E. “Buddy” Royston, and John V. “Jack” Carney.

He was born December 2, 1958, in Baltimore City, Maryland, to the late Otis Eugene and Beulah McDaniel Speirs. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and owner of Speirs Express.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Hastings Speirs, of Shelbyville; two daughters, Shannon Speirs, of Shelbyville, and Tiffany Spain, and her husband Shannon, of Bell Buckle; four sons, Jared Speirs, and his wife Lindsey, of Shelbyville, Andy Womble, and his wife Angelia and Jay Womble, and his wife Misty, all of Murfreesboro, and Matt Adams, and his wife Erika, of Chapel Hill; a sister, Freda Moore, of Ft. She was born September 24, 1924, in Shelbyville, to the late Charles Newton and Olivene Reaves Rice. She was a retired Dietician with the Bedford County School System and spent many years at Madison Street and Shelbyville Central High Schools. She loved to play golf and was a seven time Club Champion at Riverbend Country Club. She was an avid reader and thoroughly enjoyed her grandsons. She was a member of First Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Randolph Threet in 1999.

She is survived by a son, Randy Threet, of Lewisville, Texas, two daughters, Ann Turnbow, and her husband Bobby, of Shelbyville, and Becky Russo, and her husband Ray, of Lewisville, Texas; five grandsons, Justin Threet, Whit Turnbow, and his wife Lori, Kyle Turnbow, Alex Russo, and Patrick Russo; a great granddaughter, Reagan Turnbow.

Mr. William “Bill” Palmer, age 85, of Shelbyville, died Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at Heritage Medical Center.

Memorial services will be 2 PM Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at First Presbyterian Church. Reverend Stephen Cain will officiate. Per his request, his remains were cremated.

The family will receive visitors following the service at the church.

He was born January 9, 1924, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late William Jacob and Helen Tischner Palmer. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served in World War II 1943 - 1945. He retired from Sverdrup at AEDC. He was a graduate of Duke University’s School of Engineering Class of 1946 and a member of Duke University Varsity Track and Golf Teams. He held membership in the Duke University Alumni Associations and Duke’s “Over The Hill Group”. He was a former member of the Shelbyville Lion’s Club and a Boy Scout Troop Leader. He loved teaching Sunday school classes at First Presbyterian Church where he was a member.

He was a member of the Golden Pond Group, a staunch Republican, and a proud member of Riverbend Country Club and former Riverbend Club Champion. He thoroughly enjoyed meeting his “coffee group” before playing golf at Riverbend County Club. He surveyed the Riverbend Country Club golf course for the golf course architect, and designed hole number 4. He surveyed Riverbend Country Club subdivision property, and was an early member of the Uniroyal Rubber Golf Club.

He proudly cared for his lawn, loved life, and made a special impact on everyone with whom he came in contact.

He was preceded in death by is first wife, Mary Locklin Wilson Palmer.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Harris Palmer, of Shelbyville, and Dalton, Georgia; three sons, William J. Palmer, of Miami, Florida; Lee Madison Palmer, Sr. and his wife Pam, of Franklin, Tennessee, and Charles Locklin Palmer, and his wife Sherri, of Atlanta Georgia; four grandchildren, Madison Palmer, Hunter Palmer, Corinne Palmer, and Hailey Palmer

Wanda Pearson Colcord was born on July 26, 1918, in Flat Creek, Tennessee. She passed away peacefully at age 90 on April 29, 2009 at Comfort Care Homes in Wichita, Kansas. Her father was the late William Bibb Pearson and her mother was the late Willie Lee Parker. She is survived by her sister, Mary Laneal Turpin, and her two sons, Marc Colcord of Wichita, Kansas, and Ray Colcord of Los Angeles, California. She was Salutatorian of her class at Shelbyville Central High School, graduating in 1937, and was voted Outstanding Athlete of the School. Wanda served in the Women’s Army Corp during WWII. First working as an army recruiter, she served on active duty from September 1943 to December 1945 in the South Pacific, retiring as a captain. In charge of 600 WAC’s, she participated in the campaigns for New Guinea, Luzon, and the South Philippines Liberation. She received the American Theater Ribbon, 3 Overseas Service Bars, and the A-P Theater Ribbon with 3 Bronze Battle Stars. She has a brick dedicated to her in the Veterans Memorial Plaza next to the Bedford County Courthouse. In May, 1945 in the Philippines, she married Captain Richard W. Fuller. They were divorced soon after the war ended. She married Ray Colcord Jr. on September 6, 1949, in , where they both worked for Pan American Airlines. They had two sons, Ray and Marc, and lived primarily in Princeton, New Jersey. Wanda and Ray Jr. were divorced on June 20, 1966. Ray Colcord Jr. died in New York City on July 27, 1971, of heart failure after open-heart surgery. Wanda was an early supporter of women’s rights, and worked for the Princeton chapter of the National Organization for Women. She also worked as a real estate broker, establishing Colcord Real Estate in Princeton. Wanda moved back to Shelbyville, her home town, in 1975 and bought a house on Franklin Street, only a few blocks from the high school she graduated from in 1936. After a bout with pneumonia and atrial fibrillation in 2005 she moved into the Carriage House assisted living facility. After being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2007, she moved into the Heart Remembers facility at Carriage House, and in 2008 to Comfort Care Homes in Wichita, Kansas, where Marc lives. She was a strong and unique person, unflagging in her loyalty to her family, a champion of the rights of the underrepresented, and fearless in her opinions. She will be missed.

Memorial service will be 11 AM Thursday, May 21, 2009, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.

He was born July 27, 1953, in Pulaski, Tennessee, to the late Buford and Jean Delores Johnson Simmons. He was employed with Marshall Manufacturing and a member of First Baptist Church in Columbia. He was a 1971 graduate of Carver Smith High School in Columbia.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, La'wanda Buchanan Simmons; two daughters, Ta'Karra Simmons and Natalie Love, both of Shelbyville; two sons, Nathanial Love, of Tullahoma and Justin Love, of Georgia; four grandsons, and four granddaughters; four sisters, Carol Parks, of Frankfort, Kentucky, Gail Childress, and her husband Alec, of Skokie, Illinois, Sharon Gilbreath, of Columbia, and Aleta Porter, of Nashville; a loving aunt, Nellie Simmons, Johnson, of Columbia.

She was a homemaker and attended Victory Celebration Revival Church. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, working in her garden, and reading her Bible. She also found great pleasure in fishing, quilting, crocheting, and visiting with other people.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Gertrude Haynes and Flossie Haynes, and four brothers, Jessie Haynes, James Haynes, Grady Haynes, and Allen Haynes.

She is survived by a daughter, Tammy G. Cantrell, and her husband David, of Shelbyville; a son, Anthony Hudson, of the Haskins Chapel Community; a grandson, Chris Rainey and two granddaughters, Ashley Cantrell and Leslie Cantrell, all of Shelbyville; three brothers, Frank Haynes, of the Wheel Community, Ray Haynes, of Unionville, and Hoyle Haynes, of Wartrace; two sisters, Linda Smotherman, of Belfast, and Faye Duke, of Shelbyville; She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. William Lance West, age 50, passed away at his home in Lewisburg on June 22, 2009. He is survived by his parents Lester and Barbara West (Lewisburg), grandfather Claude T. Actor T. Scott Cunningham, founding member of Drama Dept. and The Vineyard Community of Artists, dies at age 47 (December 15, 1961-June 20, 2009)

Actor T. Scott Cunningham, a founding member of Drama Dept. and The Vineyard Community of Artists, died at NYU Medical Center in New York City on Saturday, June 20 from complications due to pneumonia and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, according to Sam Rudy, a spokesperson for The Vineyard Theatre. Mr. Cunningham was 47 years old. T. Scott Cunningham last appeared this past April at the Philadelphia Theatre Company in Edward Albee's "At Home at the Zoo." On Broadway, he was in "Love! Valour! Compassion!" and revivals of "Design for Living" and "Tartuffe." His off-Broadway credits include "As Bees in Honey Drown" and "Music from a Sparkling Planet," both by Douglas Carter Beane (Drama Dept.); "Wintertime" and "The Dear Boy" (2nd Stage)'; and "New England" (Manhattan Theatre Club). He originated roles in three plays by Nicky Silver: "Pterodactyls" and "The Eros Trilogy" at The Vineyard Theatre and "Fit to be Tied" at Playwright's Horizons.

Mr. Cunningham was recently in the National Tour of "Twelve Angry Men" and the Las Vegas production of "Mamma Mia!" and was also in the west coast tour of "Take Me Out." He is very proud to have been in the Kennedy Center's production of "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" with George Grizzard. His work in regional theatre includes South Coast Rep, Seattle Rep, Old Globe (Richard Greenberg's "The Violet Hour"), Long Wharf, McCarter, Alliance, Williamstown, NY Stage & Film, Portland Stage Co., Utah Shakespeare (title role in "Hamlet"), and many others.

She was born May 7, 1926, in Bedford County, to the late Robert Evans Paschal and Robbie Ophelia Baker Paschal. Her early work history included employment with the FBI in Oak Ridge under General E.J. Brennis while construction of the atomic bomb was taking place during WWII. She also worked at Harris Middle School, 1973- 1993, the Register of Deeds Office, and the Tax Assessor’s Office in the Court House. She played basketball at Shelbyville Central High School in 1944 and was a member of First Baptist Church, serving as secretary for the Sunday School Department and also Sunday school teacher. She was known for her entertaining of friends, and family, as was a wonderful cook. It was a blessing to be invited to her table. She was also a quilt maker and talented seamstress. She also loved her vegetable gardening.

She was preceded in death her husband, Auburn Wheeler and a son, William Auburn Wheeler, Jr. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Delmous Paschal.

She is survived by two daughters, Belinda Craig, and her husband David, and Teresa Gill, and her husband Alan, all of Shelbyville; four grandchildren, Tad Craig, and his wife Teresa, of Murfreesboro, Ben Craig, and his wife Lana, of Shelbyville, J. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and served on numerous committees within the church. He was a Past President of the Kiwanis Club.

He married Mary Pauline “Polly” Alexander on March 16, 1941. They celebrated 66 years together before her passing in 2007.

He is survived by two daughters, Sheila B. Trolinger and Jeanie B. Phillips, both of Shelbyville; three grandchildren, Mary Gay Trolinger Burton, Rod Phillips ,and Molly Phillips Carneal; five great grandchildren, Maggie Burton, Abby Burton, Jake Phillips, Sam Carneal, and Sarah Beth Carneal.

She was born March 19, 1955, in Lincoln County, to Will A. Porter, of Shelbyville, and the late Audie Lee Greer Porter. She worked with Eaton Corporation before their closure, and was a member of Bird Street Chirch of Christ. In addition to her father, she is survived by a son, Will Debonaire Porter and a daughter, Nicole Porter, both of Shelbyville; three brothers, Roger, Larry, and Ronnie Porter, all of Shelbyville; five sisters, Carolyn Reese and Marcia Porter, both of Shelbyville, JoAnn Pitts, of Murfreesboro, Robbie Nelson, of Newton, Georgia, and Shelia Boleyjack, of Hendersonville.

Mr. William “Bill” Sherrill, age 75, of Shelbyville, died Tuesday, August 25, 2009, at Heritage Medical Center. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Gipson Cemetery in Alto, Tennessee, in Franklin County.

He was born September 11, 1933, in Huntsville, Alabama, to the late Ollie Harrison and Myrtle Hilyard Sherrill. He was retired from Lucas Industries in 1988, and opened Cinnamon Ridge Bed and Breakfast and Cinnamon Ridge Blinds in 1990. He was Past Master of the Mason Lodge in Jacksonville, Florida, member of the Al Menah Shriners and Scottish Rites. He was a member of the Shelbyville Breakfast Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patricia Ann Garner Sherrill, of Shelbyville; a daughter, Carolanne Dallman, of Jacksonville, Florida; a sister, Carolyn Quillin, of Huntsville, Alabama; two grandchildren, Ashley and Amy Dallmann.

Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Clanton Molder life-long resident of Shelbyville passed away Friday September 11 at the age of 83. Funeral services for Mrs. Molder will be conducted on September 14 at 11:00 a.m. at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel in Shelbvyille. Brother Kevin Minchey, pastor of First Baptist Church of Shelbyville and Brother Drew Hayes of the People’s Church of Shelbyville will be officiating. Her grandson, Charles “Chaz” Molder will be assisting. Burial will follow at the Willow Mount Cemetery in Shelbyville. The family will visit with friends on Sunday September 13 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the funeral home.

The Bedford County native was born on June 26, 1926, the daughter of the late Thomas George and Irene Lokey Clanton. She was the wife of the late Charles “Charlie” Arthur Molder, who passed away in 1992, for 42 happy years. Together they owned Molder’s Planning Service Company.

Dot graduated from Shelbyville Central High School in 1945. She was a member of the Shelbyville Eaglettes basketball team where she received all district honors. She was a member of the Shelbyville Women’s Club, Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority, Beta Iota Chapter. She also served as a member of the Prayer Team at First United Methodist Church in Columbia. Dot was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Shelbyville for 64 years. She served on various committees for the church and was a member of the Joy Sunday School class. Charlie and Sam McLean designed the new church building on Depot Street, and when it was completed Dot was asked to serve as chairman of the church’s 150 year celebration. Brother Homer Cate was a former pastor who attended this celebration which made Dot particularly happy since Brother Cate was the pastor when Dot joined the church at age 17. While she wasn’t able to attend church over the last several years, she remained involved in other ways and in constant communication with her cherished friends at the church.

She leaves behind two sons, Rick (Deborah) Molder of Columbia and Mark (Cindy) Molder of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She is also survived by four grandsons, Mark (Kandi) Molder of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; King (Ester) Molder of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; Chaz (Elizabeth) Molder of Columbia, Tennessee; and Jake Molder of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She has two great-grandsons Cameron and Grant Molder of Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

She is also survived by her brother Tom Clanton of Brentwood, Tennessee and sisters Connie Clanton Curry of Shelbyville, Donna Clanton Spence of Smyrna, Tennessee and several nieces and nephews. She has a number of life-long friends who have been supportive of her over the years who survive her and which she was forever grateful for their love and support.

In addition to her husband and parents, Dot was preceded in death by brothers: Albert Ray Clanton and Robert “Bob” Edward Clanton, two sisters: Sara Elizabeth Clanton Ferrell and Jo Ann Clanton Wilkes, half-brothers: Otis Clanton, Lewis Clanton, and Finis Clanton, and half sister Alma “Lady” Clanton Ervin.

Pallbearers will be: Jerry Dunagan, Marshall Lile, John Pylant, David Deason, George Parham, and Barry Cooper.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Bobbie Jean Welsh, and three brothers, Eugene Nelson, Thomas Nelson, and Ted Nelson. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Lee Jackson and Ethlene Smith.

She was born February 28, 1936, in Bedford County, to the late Tommy Lee and Willie Sanders Fisher. She was a veteran of the United States Navy and retired from Bell South. She also held membership in the Town and Country Garden Club and Daughter of the American Revolution. She always saw the best in other people and brought out the best in them. She was never in a room of strangers, but only people she had not met yet. She was born in Shelbyville, Tennessee and after a stint in the Navy serving her country, she returned. She was always willing to volunteer whether it was at a local school, civic or church function. She was an active member of First Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Timothy Lee Jorgenson and James Robert Jorgenson. A brother, James Fisher and a sister, Lucille Blessing, also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Albert Lee Smithson, of Shelbyville; two sons, Cliffton Gene Jorgenson, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida and David Michael Jorgenson, and his wife Kat, of Tullahoma, Tennessee; a daughter, Kathy Lynn Reed, and her husband, Johnny, of Shelbyville; eight grandchildren, Rachel Rose Jorgenson Livesay, and her husband, Josh, of McMinnville, Tennessee, Collin Jorgenson, and his wife Lisa, Ashley Reed, Tripp Reed, Stephen Jorgenson, and Rebecca Jorgenson, all of Shelbyville, Dakota Bowen and Amanda Bowen, both of Tullahoma; four great grandchildren and one brother, Robert Fisher.

Mr. Robert “Larry” Arnold, age 55, of Shelbyville, died Saturday, October 03, 2009, at his home after an extended illness.

He was born September 26, 1954, in Cook County, Illinois. He was retired from the Marshall County Ambulance Service and worked previously with the Bedford County Ambulance Service. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Louella Arnold and a brother, James E. “Fuzzy” Arnold. Mr. Jennings Renick Lambeth, age 88, of Shelbyville, formerly of Pennsylvania, died Saturday, October 3, 2009, at The Heart Remembers.

He was born October 26, 1920, in Bols D’Arc, Missouri, to the late Virgil and Katherine Renick Lambeth. He was a retired executive in the steel industry, and a member of Shady Side Presbyterian Church in Oakmont, Pennsylvania. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in World War II.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Josephine Wiley Lambeth, of Shelbyville; a son, Jennings C. Lambeth, and his wife Suzanne, of Shelbyville; two grandchildren, Jennifer Hinds, of Nashville, and Dr. Melissa Kemp, of Atlanta, Georgia; three great grandchildren, Josephine Hinds, Sarah Hinds, and William Lyle Hinds, III.

Mr. Kenneth Ray (Kenny) Hudson, age 42, of Shelbyville, died Friday, October 9, 2009, at home of an apparent heart attack.

A Celebration of Life service will be 8 PM Tuesday, October 13, 2009.. The family will receive visitors 5-8 PM Tuesday, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Following the visitation, and per his request, his remains will be cremated.

He was born August 5, 1967, in Shelbyville, to Charles Kenneth and Margaret Ann Smith Hudson, of Shelbyville. He was owner/operator of Hudson’s Auto Repair and a welder. Kenny loved his family very much. His favorite place to be was on the river, and he also enjoyed good movies and working crossword puzzles. His highlight of the day was telling a good joke to make you laugh, and he also enjoyed gardening and was known for growing big tomatoes. He enjoyed metal detecting, hunting, and fishing. His favorite saying was, “My God, Magnum”. He was also known to carry a happy box around occasionally and it kept him pretty happy.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Don and Myrtle Bingham Hudson

He was born August 25, 1962, in Jackson, Mississippi, to Frank Emerson and Karen Williamson Davis. He was truck driver for Great Wide Trucking and co-owner of Davis Brothers Motorsports. He was an excellent mechanic and attended the Baptist Church.

He was a 32nd Degree Mason and Past Master of the Shelbyville Benevolent Lodge #122, and was a member of the Al Menah Shrine Temple. He was also an active member and Ordained Deacon of First Baptist Church.

He was born June 4, 1924, in Bedford County, to the late Pet and Maggie Earnhart Rowland. He was retired from General Felt Industries and was a “Down To Earth Farmer”. He also loved to work with mules.

He is survived by his wife, Janie Pilkington Rowland, of Shelbyville; a sister, Sarah Hoover, of Shelbyville, and a brother, Thomas Rowland, and his wife, Dorothy, of Shelbyville; his special and devoted companion “Pooh”; sisters in law, Elizabeth Couch and Margaret Little, and bother in law, Bill Pilkington. He is also survived by special nieces and nephews, Bobby Jett, Jr., Edith Jett, Travis Jett, Jennie, Edward, Valorie, Lonnie, Clayton, Robert, Paul Jett, Beverly, Amanda, Kaylyn, Aaron, Elizabeth, Brandi, Dusty, Wyatt, Robert Jett, Corey, Cody, Corina, Skye, Raine, Madison, Bobby Jett, and Faye Jett, Robert Couch, and his wife, Karen.

She was a Supervisor of the United States Post Office and an award winning Postal Manager. She enjoyed coaching softball for her daughters, was an avid fisherman, and loved gardening.

He was born August 7, 1945, in Russellville, Kentucky, to the late Joseph Hawkins and Ruby Lee McDonald O’Dell. He was retired from Calsonic Corporation and the former Industrial Recruiter for Shelbyville Bedford County.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, William “Billy” O’Dell and Frederick O’Dell; and two sisters, Eva Ann Lanier and Kathleen Williams.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Charlotte Peck O’Dell, of Shelbyville; a daughter, Lisa Dugger, and her husband, Tony, of Murfreesboro; two sons, David O’Dell, and Denton O’Dell, both of Shelbyville; two sisters, Evelyn Collins, of Peachtree City, Georgia, and Barbara Turner, of Macon, Georgia; three grandchildren, Sam Dugger, Lindsay Dugger, and Jesse O’Dell.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy Kellett-Gordon, of Lynchburg; a son, Marty Ray Gordon, and his wife Lorri, of Shelbyville, and a daughter, Paula Williams, of Shelbyville; two grandchildren, Justin Ryan Gordon and Jody Martin Gordon. He also leaves many friends and extended family to mourn his passing.
