Juegos De La Antigüedad Y Edad Media
1800 a.C. Este hermoso juego en ébano y marfil, tiene la forma de un pequeño mueble. El tablero es una caja de madera rectangular (de 15 x 10 cm.), puesto sobre cuatro patas de animal. -

Food Traditions
foodA tour traditions of food heritage in the Iowa Valley Scenic Byway Corridor MATTHEW HELM IOWA VALLEY RC&D A Quick Word This booklet was made possible through a collaboration between Iowa Valley RC&D, the Obermann Center for Advanced Studies at the University of Iowa, and the Iowa Valley Scenic Byway Board. The interview process revealed that headcheese is a favorite in the Iowa River Valley, which was … unexpected. You can experience this place-based, culinary treat at the Amana Meat Shop, located at 4523 F Street Amana, Iowa 52203. Special thank you to Matthew Helm for capturing these stories during a global pandemic. In the summer of 2020, I was selected for an internship with the Obermann Center for Advanced Studies at the University of Iowa Humanities for the Public Humanities for the Public Good Initiative through the Obermann Center for Advanced Good Initiative (funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation) Studies. Iowa Valley RC&D was my host organization. Over the course of the summer, I Iowa Department of Transportation interviewed community leaders across the Iowa Valley Scenic Byway corridor to discover Iowa Valley Scenic Byway Board stories about food. My findings are shared here in the hope of inspiring visitors and residents to celebrate and preserve their own traditions as well as those of others. -

What are you writing, Opa? I answered that I was thinking about the new year, and what great deeds in history would be commemorated in 1993 the sesquicentennial of the Oregon Trail, which traverses our Grande Ronde valley; the beatification of Father Damien De Veuster, the Belgian missionary who served and gave his life to the lepers on Molokai; King Louis XVI of France and his Queen Marie Antoinette were executed 1793, the same year that the US proclaimed its neutrality: in 1893, Karl Benz in Germany constructed the first tour wheel car, powered by a internal combustion engine, followed by Henri Ford in America a few months later; and ... But my youngest grandson interrupted: Opa, you forgot the most important one: I will be 10 years old this year... What more can I say...! Micheline Gaudette made another tremendous contribution to our organization: she submitted a Cumulative Index of Belgian Laces from 1989 till 1992: a complete index of 60 pages of names, articles, authors, etc.. This represents hours of work and shows true dedication, Micheline. In name of all our members we thank you. We will have this index printed as a separate publication and make it available to the membership upon request ($5 prepaid from this office). -

Morrison, Illinois
Morrison, Illinois Visitor’s Guide www.morrisonchamber.com WELCOME TO MORRISON Welcome to our town! The City of Morrison, Illinois is located in the northwestern part of the state. We are a city of rich heritage and charm whose citizens are welcoming to all. The residents of Morrison have a long history of voluntarism to the community and their neighbors. We are extremely proud of our schools that have long been recognized as one of the best small school systems in the state. Our accomplishments in academics, athletics and the fine arts are on a par with far larger districts. This is due not only to our modern facilities, dedicated teachers and staff, but also to the involvement of interested parents. In addition to our schools, we have a very modern library and community room. Morrison is located on the Historic Lincoln Highway, which stretched across the U.S. Today, it is commonly referred to as Route 30. As you travel to and around Morrison, you will see one of the oldest mills in the state on the west end of town. Contrast that with one of the newest covered bridges in the state on the north edge of town, and on our east side you will find our award winning sports complex that draws competitors from a wide area. On the south edge of town is our industrial park, as well as the Morrison Institute of Technology which is widely recognized as one of the premier two year technical schools of its type. Morrison is also the County seat and has a very modern courthouse and law enforcement center. -
Draught Copy
Free Newsletter Draught for the Maidstone & Mid-Kent, Gravesend & Darent Valley and Bexley areas of Kent Copy Spring 2015 No. 178 DRAUGHT COPY—LOOKING BACK As we go to press on this, edition 178 of Draught Copy, I took a look back at the very first issue I ever became involved with exactly nine years ago. I joined as typesetter, the man who puts together the printed publication, a job I still do, despite being editor as well now. In 2006 we ran to 32 pages per issue, and now we are 50 percent thicker at 48 pages. But the price has remained the same! What impresses me most, though, is the brewery roll-call in Kent. In edition 142 our county had just ten breweries listed here: Goachers, Hopdaemon, Larkins, Millis, Nelson, Ramsgate, Shepherd Neame, Swan, Westerham and Whitstable. All ten are still going strong, but have been joined by twenty more. We have said goodbye to Black Cat, which has moved to East Sussex, and are welcoming the tiny microbrewery of the Isla Vale Alesmiths, who are now making a name for themselves in the pubs of Thanet. And I mean tiny, too, just one half barrel per brew. Looking forward, it would seem this burgeoning trend of new breweries is set to continue. I wish we could say the same of pubs, which are in fact diminishing at the rate of 31 closures a week! CAMRA has an urgent and active campaign—Pubs Matter—with its own website, www.pubsmatter.org.uk. I would urge readers to visit this site, take a look at page 10 here, and give this campaign all the support you can. -
