Bledlow-cum-Saunderton Neighbourhood Development Plan Report of the Community Infrastructure Task Group 1. Introduction 1.1 The Community Infrastructure Task Group (CITG) was set up by the Bledlow-cum-Saunderton Neighbourhood Plan Working Group (WG) in December 2015. Its initial work programme was focused around the following questions: How do we prevent the loss of valued community facilities? What are these crucial assets? What are the infrastructure priorities on which CIL funds should be targeted? At the outset of the CITG’s work there was an understanding that the quantum of development on the former Molins factory site would be at the upper end of the spectrum and generate significant CIL funds. As it has become clear that such a scale of development opposed by Wycombe District Council’s (WDC) appeal case it has been necessary to amend the remit of the CITG to identify infrastructure priorities where PC funds (including and in addition to CIL) might be spent. 1.2 The CITG was composed of local residents all of whom, by virtue of being either long-standing residents of the Parish or through their roles in various local organisations, have demonstrated a competency to undertake the work of the CITG. During the work of the Task Group the following Stakeholders have been contacted directly in order to seek their input into the output of the Task Group and into this report. • Common Right Assertion a Thesis Submitted to Middlesex University In
Enclosure Resistance in Middlesex, 1656 - 1889: A Study of Common Right Assertion A thesis submitted to Middlesex University in partial fulfilment of the requirementsfor the degree of Doctor of Philosophy Paul Carter School of Humanities and Cultural Studies August 1998 BEST COPY AVAILABLE Variable print quality I ABSTRACT This study provides a detailed examination of resistance to enclosure in Middlesex from the closing stagesof the English Republic to the late Victorian period. The evidence presentedin the following chapters establishesthat resistancewas widely spread both over time, (before, during and after any individual enclosure) and geographical location within the county. The study itself is divided into four general sections. The first section is divided into two chapters each having a separatefunction in setting the sceneprior to examining any of the Middlesex evidence. The first chaptersets out both the terminologyused by contemporariesand later by historiansto describe farming practice in general and the enclosure process in particular. Contemporaries, whether agriculturists or commentators on rural life, and historians have a myriad of terms and conventions to explain the way in which life was organised in the countryside of the past. This introduction to the terminology is necessary. Although I am primarily concerned with labour, and the transition from a rural community with access to the material benefits of common rights to one of exclusive wage dependence, it is still required that we are able to understand the description of agricultural practices as this transition progresses. The second chapter is an examination of previous historians' analysis of enclosure, and their accounts of the responsesof commoners to enclosure and the threat of enclosure.

  • Spaces Wild, London Wildlife Trust
SPACES WILD championing the values of London’s wildlife sites Protecting London’s wildlife for the future Foreword London is a remarkably green city supporting a wide diversity of habitats and species. Almost half of its area is blue and green space, and almost a fifth – covering over 1,500 different sites - is of sufficient value to biodiversity to be identified worthy of protection. These wildlife sites consist of much more than nature reserves, ranging from wetlands to chalk downs that are often valued by the local community for uses other than habitat. They have been established for almost 30 years, and as a network they provide the foundations for the conservation and enhancement of London’s wildlife, and the opportunity for people to experience the diversity of the city’s nature close to hand. They are a fantastic asset, but awareness of wildlife sites – the Sites of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINCs) – is low amongst the public (compared to, say, the Green Belt). There is understandable confusion between statutory wildlife sites and those identified through London’s planning process. In addition the reasons why SINCs have been identified SINCs cover 19.3% of the are often difficult to find out. With London set to grow to 10 million people by 2030 the pressures on our wildlife Greater London area sites will become profound. I have heard of local authorities being forced to choose between saving a local park and building a school. Accommodating our growth without causing a decline in the quality of our natural assets will be challenging; we have a target to build an estimated 42,000 homes a year in the capital merely to keep up with demand.

  • Letter from the Chair Contents
LETTER FROM THE CHAIR May I welcome you to your Summer Tidings as the 12th Chairman of the Society? A big thank you to everyone at the AGM who voted me into the chair and voted for the talented Alan Benns to be our 10th Vice Chairman. You can read more about Alan inside and our two newest group leaders: James Sinclair and Andy Weston. We have a busy time ahead with Teddington in Flower, The Village Fair and Pram Race and the River Festival. We hope most of you will take part either by attending the events or helping us run our stall. We have a new venture at the Park Hotel and that's Afternoon Cream Teas. Bring your friends along and try it out for the first time on June 3rd or come alone and make new friends. The council have taken it upon themselves to put free hanging baskets in each village to complement the Rugby World Cup. Baskets will be planted in World Cup colours - blue, pink and white. We will get 50 placed in the High Street, Broad Street, Victoria Road and Station Road from May-October. We will get 16 baskets in the winter. The Landmark Arts Centre is celebrating its 20th anniversary in November by installing 5 decorative panels telling the history of the building. The Society has donated £500 towards the £2,000 needed for the task. The vinyl panels put up by LBRuT to conceal the derelict Bottoms Up site in the Causeway have been removed as the site is being refurbished at long last.
