nce again, it is with great pride and pleasure that we submit the OLLI at DU 2019-2020 Annual Report. We began this year as a strong organization, and we end it as an even stronger organization – a group of Oamazingly talented and dedicated staff and members - tested by a pandemic that we did not plan for yet were able to adjust to quickly and effectively. It is only through our combined commitment and efforts that we continue to not only survive…to thrive during these times of change and challenge.

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Denver (OLLI at DU) continues in its dedication and commitment to excellence and transparency as it has for many years. It is our responsibility to you, the members, to ensure the progress and financial stability of this truly incredible organization.

As the world continues to struggle to find its balance and sensibilities, in a way not experienced in our lifetimes, OLLI at DU continues a path of refinement, continuity and stabilization. This past year began (after several years of change and expansion) as a year of stabilization…shoring up any areas our expansion may have weakened while continuing our outreach and incremental growth. With this path before us, we continued our commitment “ to transparency by conducting presentation on the 2025 Vision plan as developed by the volunteer committees the previous year. With this vision in mind, we began building to the future by expanding our course offerings to nearly 700 courses, enjoyed by nearly 3,300 A year that began with members. T commitment… Paul Simon, OLLI East Manager Bob Armstrong, OLLI/DU Budget & Financial Liaison Paul’s more than 35 years’ experience in the news and online content industries in Wayne Grider, Curriculum Committee Co-Chair California, Nebraska and Colorado included 11 years as an Associated Bureau Chief OLLI Boulder Bill Walters, Curriculum Committee Co-Chair and four years as an editor at the Denver Post. He was governor of the Colorado/ Wyoming Optimist District until 2017 and he served five years as volunteer chair of OLLI Central David Ramsey, Member Relations Committee Chair the Optimist Brain Bowl, coordinating hundreds of volunteers annually. He holds Tom Bieging, Curriculum Committee Chair a MA in Mass Communication and a BS in Journalism. He joined OLLI at DU as OLLI East Barbara Lilly, Member Relations Committee Chair Central Manager in November 2015, developed OLLI East early in 2018, and also John Rough, Curriculum Committee Chair regularly facilitates classes. OLLI South Gary Wyngarden, Member Relations Committee Chair Darcey VanWagner, OLLI South Manager Sally Walling, Curriculum Committee Co-Chair Darcey started with OLLI at DU September 2016. Prior to OLLI she worked in the Pat Smith, Curriculum Committee, Co-Chair financial industry for 18 years. While there she managed various operations and OLLI West Susan Schmetzer, Member Relations Committee Co-Chair customer services departments. She has also been involved in public education and Karen Lindsay, Member Relations Committee Co-Chair on the board of the local school. Darcey is a Denver native and graduate of Colorado Tom Hughes, Curriculum Committee Co-Chair State University. She is glad to be part of OLLI and has enjoyed meeting a diverse Gail Wilson, Curriculum Committee Co-Chair group of people all eager to continue to learn and give of their time. Jacqueline Wyant, OLLI-on-Campus Jacqueline (Jackie) comes to OLLI after a 40+ year career in teaching literacy to Our Community Partners middle and high school students, serving as a school principal, and as a program e collaborate with many local organizations to enhance developer and senior project manager. She has designed comprehensive state-wide  our programming for our members. These organization offer professional development programs and facilitated workshops for groups ranging space, tours, lectures and classes and include: from 12 to over 1200 participants.
