Tea Party
The Mad Hatter Throws a Tea Party
by Paul Ruger On the afternoon of Thursday, January 14, the High School English department, led by the Mad Hatter, A.K.A Mrs. Crowther, held a tea party in true English fashion. Participants enjoyed a variety of English foods, while sipping English tea and watching the much- enjoyed Downton Abbey PBS show. There was pound cake, lemon curd, digestive biscuits, strawberries and cream, as well as sugar-free brownies. The latter were not of English origin, obviously, but w e r e e n j o y e d nonetheless. Mrs. Crowther arrived in f u l l c o s t u m e , complete with her h a t , w h i c h w a s another festivity of the afternoon: an English hat contest. While most of the students did not wear hats, the hats that were worn were most interesting! However, the prize for best hat went to Paul Ruger, who wore a hat adorned with pictures of Mrs. Crowther’s beloved character, Heathcliff, and hearts featuring Mrs. Crowther’s name. As a result, the hat was confiscated and is currently on display in Mrs. Crowther’s room. Several teachers also participated in the party, finding the afternoon rather enjoyable. When observing everybody present, it was clear that an enjoyable time was had by all! 1 The Quibbler February 1, 2016 Sport
Boys Varsity Basketball
by Andrew Hennessey
January 27th , there was a close game between Spa Catholic and Argyle Varsity Basketball. Argyle, who is ranked high in the state for class D was down 6. The Saints started out great also, while shutting down Arygle’s leading scorer Kobe Lufkin. However late in the first half, turnovers by the Saints led to Argyle baskets. At the end of the first half Saints were down 3. Kobe began hitting shots at the start of the second half, but the Saint’s offense kept up. The Saints began to get into some foul trouble with Terel Tillman and Evan Pescetti late in the 3rd into the 4th quarter. With a minute left, the Saints were down 4 but baskets were not falling. They fell to Argyle 65-60. Tyler Haraden was the leading scorer for the Saint’s with 17.
Boys JV Basketball

The Saratoga Central Catholic JV boys’ basketball team for the year 2015-2016 is one of the best that this school has had. The winning streak for the JV boys’ basketball team is 16-2. Leading the team in points is Marcus Davis, Ryan McFacdden, and Kaden Learch. In addition to having great players on offense, the defense this year is equally as talented. Sam Haraden’s height, measuring in at 6 foot 3, is a key factor on the court. He knows the post and his defense is one of the best on team. His partner in crime is Timmy Barrett, coming in at close to 6 foot 3 inches, they have each’s other back during the games and always read each other. Now for the ball handlers we have Marcus Davis, Aidan Dagestino, Ryan McFadden, Kaden Learch, Ben Scammell, Griffin Dae, Kyle Hennessey, and Nick Condry. I strongly believe the team has very strong ball handling and maybe even the best at the JV level in Section 2. We have very few turnovers during our games and we are sure to make it to the basket. We are a team that works very hard to be the best that we can, while having fun at it.
