    Coatbridge Community Forum October 201 Report AGENDA 1 TEM No Ij s _sll.j To Local Area Partnership Background (Last Forum meeting, dates, times and venue, short introduction) The Community forum will have met on three occasions since the last LAP meeting. The dates were 2"d August, 6 * September and 4 * October. We are please to report the establishment of closer links between the forum and Coatbridge youth forum with representatives now attending both meetings This report aims to give an outline of some of the business discussed at the meeting(s); some of the community issues raised, highlight specific issues for consideration at the Local Area Partnership, and give an update on progress to date.. Community Forum Update (Overview of forum activity and actions from recent meetings, forthcoming events or activities, etc) The Forum continues to represent the views of local groups with or partners. Monkland Canal Project:- The group are involved in this project, local representatives from Carnbroe and Sikeside are co-operating in the provision of a plan to link by pathways the Calder water to the Canal. They are actively seeking funding to promote better use of this area NHS Community Funding :- We are continuing to work with our partners NHS Lanarkshire to provide funding to voluntary groups for the promotion of specific projects which meet the health agenda. The Forum will be meeting with NLC planning Department to put forward the communities view on the way forward with the CARS bid for the Dunbeth Conservation area and the town plan. In the football, the boys disposed of Soprom of Hungary in the quarter-final, winning 6-0, before facing Baghdad in the semi-final. Winning this match 3-2 took the boys through to face host city Manama in the final. An own goal and several on target strikes made sure of a 5-1 win and the gold medal. In athletics, the girls won silver in the 4xIOOm relay while the boys took bronze in their relay. Silver was won in the long jump and a bronze in the long ump. On the last day of the sailing in the Arabian Gulf, Team Lanarkshire secured 10‘L place overall.

Purpose of Report 1.1 This report seeks to update the Partnership and Committee on the progress made on the Coatbridge Town Centre Action Plan projects and initiatives. 2. Background 2.1 The Coatbridge Town Centre Action plan was approved by North Lanarkshire Council’s Economic Regeneration Committee in March 2005 as a multi-agency and wide ranging approach for the regeneration process in Coatbridge Town Centre. 2.2 As previously reported, works as part of the current Action Plan are now complete in Coatbridge and as such there is no allocated budget for this year. The Council will determine its Capital Plan for the period 201 3/14 to 201 7/18 in early 201 3 and the partnership will be advised of any budget allocation for the town centre at a future meeting. 2.3 The development of new Town Centre Frameworks to guide the management and change for North Lanarkshire’s town centres is currently being progressed. A guidance note which sets out the process for preparing the Frameworks can be viewed on the North Lanarkshire Council website at www.northlanarkshire.aov.uk/towncentres. 2.4 The Council is currently developing the Framework for Coatbridge. The first stages of survey and consultation work associated with the first phase of the town centre frameworks have taken place. Surveys were issued to businesses and traders within Coatbridge town centre seeking their feedback on the town centre as a place to do business and 40 surveys were received.
