Ten boys bowled and all did very well and the old McMillan Coffee Morning 7 saying “catches win matches” was again proved 100+ Club 8 right with great catches from Max Lawrence and Team Captain, Frankie Senior. Keeping Benfleet to 85-7 was a very good effort. Our plan was to see their front line bowlers off and then try to accelerate. U13: WON Belhus – 116/5 H&TCC – 117/6

T he U13’s won the South Essex District T20 Cup at Hadleigh on Sunday 8 th July. Belhus won the toss and elected to bat. Great bowling from Hadleigh re- stricted Belhus to 116 for 5. Opening bowler Kian Vapiwala set the tone with 2-14 off 3 overs. Ruben Vapiwala and Tommy Byrne got Hadleigh off to a blistering start scoring 60 from the first 4 overs before both had to retire. Although the result was never really in doubt after that opening stand, tight bowling from the Belhus boys meant Volume 13 Issue 3 P a g e 2

Despite a strong partnership during the middle of the Leigh innings we kept chipping away and with some excellent fielding and catches the run rate grew. Well done to Haider for his 4-20. If only we had fielded as well in the other close finishes this year we would have made the semi-finals. It has been great to see all of the boys’ progress in to playing senior all-age cricket. It bodes well for the club in the future.
