Ssangyong E&C is especially known for its specialization and differentiated technical skills in projects requiring advanced technological skills for subways, underground highways and high-level civil engineering and water projects. The 15cm Miracle The Seoul Subway Line 9 was built just 15cm below an existing subway line that was in operation. Little surprise, then, that the Seoul 923 Subway Station was recognized and awarded the Brunel Medal by the UK Academic Society and the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE). Indeed, Ssangyong E&C is the 'Top-performing Company for Korean Subway Construction' with a total of 32km in length in project performance records in subway construction. 3D - BIM Ssangyong E&C leads with a competitive edge in the BIM(Building Information Modeling)field also, in which cutting-edge 3D design techniques are applied for the digital data management of the entire construction process. In particular, the company is focusing on new design technique development efforts, such as the introduction of the 5D BIM design method capable of tracking progress over time and calculating input quantity. Awarded Singapore's Safety Grand Prize for 3 Consecutive Years! The Singapore expressway project has already achieved 9 million accident free man hours and will soon record the milestone achievement of 10 million accident free man hours. In addition, the subway project also has achieved 8 million accident free man hours and continues to create new records even today. In particular, the highway project site has been awarded Singapore's Safety Grand Prize 3 years in a row by the LTA Annual Safety Award Convention. Also, in 2012, Ssangyong E&C set an unprecedented milestone when both of its project sites were the first to be recipients of the same award. • Performance Estimation of a Louver Dust Collector Attached to the Bottom of a Subway Train Running in a Tunnel
Aerosol and Air Quality Research, 17: 1954–1962, 2017 Copyright © Taiwan Association for Aerosol Research ISSN: 1680-8584 print / 2071-1409 online doi: 10.4209/aaqr.2017.01.0043 Performance Estimation of a Louver Dust Collector Attached to the Bottom of a Subway Train Running in a Tunnel Jung-Bo Sim1, Sang-Hee Woo1,2, Won-Geun Kim1, Se-Jin Yook1*, Jong Bum Kim2, Gwi-Nam Bae2, Hwa Hyun Yoon3 1 Hanyang University, Seongdong-gu, Seoul 04763, Korea 2 Korea Institute of Science and Technology, Seongbuk-gu, Seoul 02792, Korea 3 Seoul Metropolitan Rapid Transit Corporation, Seongdong-gu, Seoul 04806, Korea ABSTRACT In underground tunnels, friction between the wheels and rails of subway trains creates particles, which are spread by the wind generated when trains pass by. A louver dust collector was attached to the bottom of a T-car of Seoul Subway Line 5 train in an effort to remove PM10 inside tunnels, and obtain data when it was in actual operation. It made several round trips during which differential pressure of the louver dust collector was measured in relation to train speed. By comparing and verifying the differential pressure estimated by simulation and that actually measured, it was possible to estimate average flow of air that went into the louver dust collector. Furthermore, by comparing and verifying the measurement results on collection efficiency of a lab-scale louver dust collector in a wind tunnel, along with the results of numerical analysis, it was possible to estimate the collection efficiency in relation to subway train speed. As a result, it was confirmed that higher running speeds of subway trains increased the flow of air going into the louver dust collector and subsequently decreased the particle size corresponding to 50% collection efficiency.

Estimating the Gains from New Rail Transit Investment: A Machine Learning Tree Approach Seungwoo Chin, Matthew E. Kahn, and Hyungsik Roger Moon NBER Working Paper No. 23326 April 2017 JEL No. R21,R4 ABSTRACT Urban rail transit investments are expensive and irreversible. Since people differ with respect to their demand for trips, their value of time, and the types of real estate they live in, such projects are likely to offer heterogeneous benefits to residents of a city. Using the opening of a major new subway in Seoul, we contrast hedonic estimates based on multivariate hedonic methods with a machine learning approach that allows us to estimate these heterogeneous effects. While a majority of the "treated" apartment types appreciate in value, other types decline in value.

The proposed model aims to minimize total travel time with realistic constraints such as facility condition, operational condition, and travel behavior. The travel time from smartcard data is decomposed by two distributions of the express trains and the local trains using a Gaussian mixture model. The utility parameters of the train choice model are estimated with the decomposed distribution using the multinomial logit model. The optimal solution is derived by a genetic algorithm to designate the express stations of the Bundang line in the Seoul metropolitan area. The results indicate the travel times of the transfer-based strategy and the high ridership-based strategy are estimated to be 21.2 and 19.7 min/person, respectively.
