Directions Transfers to Coral Lodge can be arranged from either Nampula or Lumbo Airports Airlines flying into Nampula: SA Airlink (from O.R. Tambo InternationalAirport – Johannesburg), Kenya Airways (from Nairobi), Mozambique Airlines and LAM (from various airports within Mozambique). Lumbo airport mainly serves charter flights. Transfer from Nampula Airport to Coral Lodge 15.41 Transfer by 4x4 vehicle is a drive of 180 kms through rural countryside. The last 40-50 km are along a bumpy sand road with the last 10 km or so on very sandy tracks and through mangrove swamp water at high tide. This transfer takes 2 ½ to 3 hours but may be longer during the rainy season depending on road conditions. Transfer by mini-van along a good, scenic tar road to Ilha de Mozambique where guests board a dhow. Transfer time is tide dependant and takes approx. 20-30 minutes at high tide and up to 45 minutes at low tide. At high tide the dhow drops the guests off at the lagoon entrance right next to the lodge’s swimming pool. At low tide the dhow stops in shallow, warm water 50-100m from the lodge which means guests have to wade to the beach. Total transfer time is approx. 3 ½ hours depending on the tide. Guests arriving on the SA Airlink flight from OR Tambo, land on time at approximately 13h30. If there are no issues with visas or customs, guests should be on Ilha de Moçambique before 16h30. The last dhow leaves Ilha de Moçambique at 17h00 for Coral Lodge. For return transfers the reverse happens and guests generally leave the lodge by 08h00/08h30 depending on the tide, to arrive at the airport in Nampula by 11h30 which is 2 ½ hours before the 14h00 SA Airlink departure. Construction is under way at Nacala Airport – which should open later in the year and the transfer time will change to 45 minutes. Transfer from Lumbo Airstrip Flight time from Nampula to Lumbo is approx. 30 minutes by light aircraft. From Lumbo airstrip to the dhow departure point on Ilha de Mozambique is a 15 – 20 minute road transfer. From Ilha de Mozambique transfer by boat which takes approx. 20-30 minutes during high tide and up to 45 minutes at low tide.
