Ronald (Ron) A. Klain J.D.
Ron Klain attended North Central High School in Indianapolis, Indiana and graduated summa cum laude from Georgetown University. He is a magna cum laude graduate of Harvard Law School, where he was an Editor of the Harvard Law Review, a Law Clerk to Supreme Court Justice Byron R. White, and won the Sears Prize for the highest grade average in 2005.
Ron has had an extensive career in public service. In the 1990s, he held many positions, including Associate General Counsel to the Clinton/Gore Transition, assisting with debate preparation for the 1992 Clinton/Gore campaign; Associate Counsel to President Clinton, where his accomplishments included leading the team to confirm Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg; Assistant to the President and Chief of Staff and Counselor to Vice President Gore, where he was responsible for overseeing policy development, political management, communications strategy, and legal and administrative matters; and Chief of Staff to Attorney General Janet Reno, advising Ms. Reno on policy and strategic issues and on sensitive legal matters arising from the Civil, Antitrust, and Civil Rights Divisions.
In October 1999, Ron joined O’Melveny & Myers LLP as a Partner and National Practice Group Chair. His practice focused on appellate litigation, strategic counseling, legislative redistricting, and government relations.
Ron was a top debate preparation Advisor to Presidents Obama and Clinton, as well as Democratic Presidential nominees Al Gore and John Kerry. He served as Legislative Director and Legislative Assistant for Telecommunications Policy to Representative Ed Markey.
He served as a Senior White House Aide to President Obama, where he was responsible for implementing the Recovery Act, and served as Chief of Staff to Vice President Biden from 2009 to 2011. Most recently, Ron served as the White House Ebola Response Coordinator from October 2014 to February 2015. As “Ebola czar,” he coordinated the United States government’s response to the outbreak of the virus. He coordinated both the domestic public health response and the international humanitarian and military efforts to stop the virus in West Africa.
Ron is the President of Case Holdings. He also serves as an Executive Vice President at Revolution Growth and General Counsel and Executive Vice President at Revolution LLC. He is a contributing columnist for the Opinion section at The Washington Post, a Director of 1776 Campus, Inc. and Inspirato LLC, and an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University.
He is married to the former Monica Medina. The Klains have three children.
