SUMMER SEASON 2019 The Friars, Canterbury, Kent CT1 2AS Box Office: 01227 787787 marlowetheatre.com WELCOME to The Marlowe’s Summer season. We’re proud to be presenting a diverse programme of drama, musicals, opera, comedy, dance and music for you, here in Kent’s major regional theatre in the heart of Canterbury. This season includes two landmark plays by working class women writers – Shelagh Delaney’s 1950s classic A Taste Of Honey and Andrea Dunbar’s comedy Rita, Sue And Bob Too, which premiered at the Royal Court in 1982, when she was just nineteen. International dance comes to Canterbury with New York legend Mark Morris’s Pepperland and Dada Masilo’s stunning South African Giselle. Opera buffs have a treat in store with three sumptuous operas by Donizetti, Verdi and Handel presented by Glyndebourne and drama-lovers can see The Taming Of The Shrew, As You Like It and Measure For Measure performed in repertoire by the Royal Shakespeare Company. The Philharmonia Orchestra’s glorious concert series is accompanied by a free digital orchestral installation, workshops and fringe performances in the Sidney Cooper Gallery on St Peter’s Street until 28 April. Over at the Kit on Stour Street, we’ve opened an immersive exhibition about Kent dramatists Christopher Marlowe and Aphra Behn and novelist Joseph Conrad, alongside our popular Escape Room. Both are open at weekends throughout the year – details on P41. If you love The Marlowe and the work that we do, then please consider supporting us.
