Japan’s Position on the South China Sea Issue

▶ The South China Sea (SCS) Fiery Cross Reef Subi Reef Mischief Reef issue is directly connected to the Jan. 2006 July 2012 Jan. 2012 peace and stability in the region.

▶ Japan is seriously concerned Sep. 2015 Jan. 2016 Jan. 2016 about the present conditions in

the South China Sea. (Japan’s Diplomatic Bluebook 2016)

▶ The Tribunal’s Award is final and is legally binding on the parties to the dispute. Japan strongly expects that the parties’ compliance with this award will lead to the peaceful settlement of disputes in the SCS.
