Kevin practised as a solicitor in the field of construction law for over 20 years before being called to the bar in 2008. As a solicitor, he was first a partner at the niche construction practice Neil F Jones & Co from 1987 until 1999 and then, with Wragge & Co until 2007. Kevin continued as a partner in the construction group at Wragges until 2007. During his time in practice as a solicitor Kevin gained wide experience of all aspects of construction law, but was primarily involved in dispute resolution which. This involved conducting litigation in the Technology & Year of Call: 2008 (1985) Construction Court as well as plus domestic and international arbitration, adjudication, mediation and other ADR techniques. Panatown), 'The Risks of Borrowing' (concerning Belgravia v. ), 'Abatement – Scotland leads the way' (concerning SL Timber v. ), - 'Secion 9 Arbitration Act 1996: Steps and Stays – a question of purpose' (concerning Capital Trust v. Radio Design AB), 'Recent decisions on costs – lessons for construction cases' all published in the In House Lawyer Magazine since 2001.

In addition the New Supplement for 2002 published his article 'Third Party Rights, Risk and the Engineer' and the NEC Users' Group Newsletter published his article 'Measuring the weather – a fair case for compensation' in 2003. He has also had three articles published in Construction Law Journal being 'Withholding payment under the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996' (published 1998), 'Quietfield v Vascroft – A case of excess of jurisdiction' (2007) and 'The Pre-Action Protocol for construction and engineering disputes – satisfactory performance?' (2008). Further Kevin was editor of Construction Law Digest from 1999 until 2001. He is also author of 'Defective Construction Work' (published by Wiley-Blackwell in 2008) and 'Set-off in the construction industry - 2nd Edition' (published by Blackwell Science in 1999).
