World Theatre Haulmark Trailers Forum Venue Friday 9am - 3pm including lunch

The World Theatre includes an existing heritage building which has undergone many changes of identity since its 1891 construction. Back in its formative years during the era, the building housed the Australian Joint Stock Bank. In 1931 it became the Bank of Commerce, which was followed by the Bank of NSW from 1933. The trade show component of the Conference will be held at the rear of the World Theatre.

Partner Tour - Explore Charters Towers, Guided Tour

Experience the history of Charters Towers on a guided tour of the town. The Zara Clark Museum is where you will see the drama and excitement that was Charters Towers over a centuary ago, as you tour through displays of agriculture, mining and medical equipment, some of it sill in working order. And chat with the volunteers about what life was like when 15,000 soldiers where based in Charters Towers. Folowed by morning tea at the Stock Exchange Arcade.

Then on a bus tour - taking in the WWII Bunkers, Tower Hill, and Weir Water Park as well as other historic places thorughout the township. Followed by lunch at the Commercial Hotel (at passenger’s expense).

Then to top off a great day, head to the Miner’s Cottage and pan for some gold, or just take in the cottage that looks like it would have looked at the begininng of the 20th centuary.

The Stock Exchange Arcade was built in 1888 to the design of Sydney architect, Mark Cooper Day for Alexander Malcolm as a shop and office arcade and named the Royal Arcade. In 1890 the Stock Exchange took up its offices in the arcade which became the focus of gold-mining investment during the peak period of Queensland's most important goldfield.

Lutheran Church “Mayor’s Lunch & AGM” venue - Saturday 12.00md - 2.30pm

The Church building was constructed in 1885-7 as the first Lutheran Church in Charters Towers. It provided a place of worship for the then German community living in the town.

The bell tower, hung with two bells brought from Germany, was completed in 1887 and is still operational. The Church was purchased in April 2014 by Liz Schmidt who has since become Mayor of Charters Towers Regional Council. Delegates tours – optional Saturday 2.30pm – 5.30pm

Venus Battery The Venus Battery is a remarkable survivor of the period of Charters Towers history as a gold mining and processing area. The Battery was opened in July 1872, the same year that gold was discovered in Charters Towers. It was built by Mr Edmond Harris Thornburgh (EHT) Plant and his associate Mr Thomas Jackson. It was the first custom mill to be operated on behalf of the public in Charters Towers. By 1919, most of the mines had closed in the area and the Mines Department purchased the mill. This was to ensure that there would be at least one operating mill in the area for gold producing mines in .
