Tim O’Toole had no experience of running metros when he took charge of London Underground four years ago. But he is a fast learner, as Chris Randall found out when he caught up with the London Underground boss London Underground’s not-so quietAmerican

Only a pair of distinctive London Underground cufflinks gives the game away. O’Toole, 52, was appointed to run the creaking Tube network in 2003 by London mayor Ken Livingstone.
