As Year 6 start to draw to the end of their time at Kew Woods Primary School, some events were planned for them. Firstly, they enjoyed a day out at Blackpool Pleasure Beach Theme . All of the children had great fun and as ever supported each other, and some of their teachers, as they went outside of their comfort zone. Each Year 6 class also enjoyed a morning at Hickory’s this week. This was organised as a thank you for being fantastic buddies for our Reception pupils, for working hard and aiming to always follow our Code of Conduct. They enjoyed a milkshake master class, watched a film and enjoyed being with their friends. We still have several events planned for Year 6 to mark their success at Kew Woods as they come to the end of Key Stage 2.

Kew Choir Our school choir were asked to perform a range of songs at Hospital this week. Initially, the plan was to sing in the gardens so that patients and staff could hear through the open windows. The hospital staff were so impressed with our pupils that they moved them round from ward to ward. Some patients were crying with happiness. The trust have asked the choir to sing at hospital each half term. Mrs Riley and Mrs Davies received some lovely feedback:

I am here visiting my dad. He’s too poorly to get out of bed but he can hear the choir. You have completely brightened his day and mine.

Interventions / After School Clubs

Please note that all interventions have now finished before school for children. We would like to thank parents for bringing the children to school early for this provision. We hope that they have found the sessions beneficial.

After School Clubs have also finished now. Thank you to all staff who have offered opportunities for our pupils to continue learning outside of the school day.

School Kits

If your child has represented the school in any sporting events, please could you check for any kits at home? The kits are extremely expensive particularly the school netball and football kits and we would be grateful to have them all returned to school.

Sport @ Kew Kew Woods B team came up against a powerful and skilful Churchtown B in the final of the Greenall Cup. The boys were up for the challenge but despite some heroic defending and surging counter attacks, Kew found themselves two nil down at half time. It was a more even second half but two further fantastic goals made it 4-0 to Churchtown. With a team of primarily Year 4's, the future of Kew Woods football is bright.
