Maya Angelou,The Queen’ My Interview with Halsey Question 1: How do you handle having so many sides to yourself as an artist? Answer: “I don’t do anything but this. I have very few personal relationships, I don’t have many hobbies, I don’t really take vacations; I don’t really do anything but this, all the time. So I’ve committed myself to being two people. I do all the work of the pop star and I do all the work of the alternative homegrown ‘fan relationship’ artist. I do two people’s amount of work.” Source: https://www.clashmusic.com/features/comfort-in-chaos-halsey-in terviewed Question 2: What cereal do you like to have in the morning? Answer: Lucky Charms Source: https://www.popjustice.com/articles/halsey-interview-i-dont-be lieve-people-who-say-theyre-themselves-all-the-time/ Question 3: What was the worst song you wrote at that point? Answer: Reckless Youth, It was supposed to be a single but it’s never going to be released. Source: https://www.popjustice.com/articles/halsey-interview-i-dont-be lieve-people-who-say-theyre-themselves-all-the-time/ Question 4: You were nominated for a Grammy in 2017. What are your memories of that night? Answer: “One of the most important things in my life was watching Adele start over. It just taught me nothing is that serious. The year before I did the same thing at Madison Square Garden. I was three songs in and everything failed, so I had to start over. And I beat myself up over it. Then I watched Adele do it, and I thought, “OK, this happens to everybody. I can’t beat myself up for it anymore.” Source: https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/halsey-inter view-nightmare-womens-march-first-grammys-890546/ Question 5: You’re able to write your songs in 20 minutes? What’s that process like? Answer: “It usually takes me 20 to 90 minutes to write a song because once I start, I don’t stop. If I start writing a song and you try to have a conversation with me, you’re a bad person. I like when it’s really organic, so I try to knock it out in one shot.” Source: https://www.interviewmagazine.com/music/halsey-badlands My Role Model: Maya Angelou Maya Angelou is an African- American poet, memoirist, and civil rights activist. She was born on April 4, 1928 in St. Louis, Missouri. In her early life she was a freelance writer and feature editor at the African Review. She was inspired by James Baldwin and Robert Loomis. Early on in life she got a scholarship for California Labor School. She got the scholarship for acting and singing. Later on in her career she got a role in a production called Porgy and Bess. She was also in Calypso Heat Wave and released her first album called Miss Calypso. After appearing in many Broadway plays she later on earned a nomination for the Tony award and Emmy award Some interesting facts about Maya Angelou are: She was the first black woman to conduct a cable car in San Francisco, she spoke six languages, she wrote and directed many movies, and she was the first poet in history to recite work at a presidential inauguration. The Queen’s Gambit: A Netflix Review I really recommend The Queen’s Gambit, it’s a good show about chess and although that may seem boring, it’s actually pretty interesting. It starts off with showing an incident that happened to the main character’s mother. Later on, she moves into an orphanage for girls. There she learns to play chess from the janitor. After playing a few games, the janitor starts to realize how much of a prodigy she is. Throughout the show, she has to go through some stuff, some of which is serious and other which is childish. I feel like this is a good show to tell people that you should never give up no matter what the circumstances are. Whether you grow up poor, middle class, or rich always do whatever you can to achieve your dreams. This Limited Series shows how she took what she had and made it into something bigger. She went from being an orphan to one of the best chess players in the world. Also, in doing that, she was able to make a lot of money from the tournaments. So even if your dream isn’t considered a career there’s many possibilities. You can still do what you love and make a living. You might go through a few hardships but as long as you stay on path and try your best you should be able to do whatever you want in life. This show also helps with the stereotypical stuff that comes along with chess. Chess is usually seen as something that only men can play, but in this show she proves that it doesn’t matter what gender you are. Today there are still many stereotypes that have to do with men and women being different as people, so this show kind of helps with some of it. It’s about both the men and women stereotype and also how you should try to do whatever you want in life no matter what you might have to go through. The Falcon Fortuneteller: March Aries (March 21st – April 19th) March, the first spring month, is a sign to calm down at work. There are less worries, so you will be able to focus on other important things, like your family, where perhaps you can expect some hot news. Aries also should focus on his intuition, which definitely works. Taurus (April 20th – May 20th) March emphasizes friendship over love. Taurus is not afraid to show their real face, which helps them to attract lots of interesting people. Although you feel more relaxed than ever before, be circumspect- you can’t assume anyone is honest with you. Gemini ( May 21st – June 20th) The coming March makes you focus on material things. Gemini are driven to desire to gain more money. Because of that, they can count on their determination. On the other hand, the vision of property could disconnect you from your real values, so don’t forget them. Cancer (June 21st – July 22nd) Higher temperatures mean “gold fever”. You are attracted by money and property during the entire month of March, which gives you concentration to increase your work performance. If you persist, perhaps you will be promoted. Leo (July 23rd – August 22nd) According to the horoscope, there will be a great twist in March. It will finally be a period when Leos will succeed in personal life. Things might not be that good in career though. Just a moment of inattention is enough to make a mistake. You have to concentrate very much, which is obviously exhausting. You’ll recharge your batteries the best when doing, for example, team sports. Virgo (August 23rd- September 22nd) Virgo is naturally one of the hardworking signs of zodiac, which can lead to workaholism in extreme cases. March isn’t the right period for strain like this. Excessive stress could have a negative impact on your health. So, you should get some rest and don’t be afraid to achieve some wellness and enjoy it. Libra (September 23rd – October 22nd) For singles, some passionate relationships come, while for a Libra in a long-term relationship, March brings a flurry of vitality. However, this spring month offers you well even in career. Vision of material profits causes you to be motivated more than ever before. Scorpio (October 23rd – November 21st) March is a very fruitful period, which you were expecting for a long time. Scorpio doesn’t have problems doing any work with absolute enthusiasm. Their motivation is a strong desire for property, which Mars in Taurus brings them. Yes, money is a nice thing, but don’t forget about your close friends and family. Sagittarius (November 22nd – December 21st) Every Sagittarius can expect a very social March. Your communication skills are high, which helps you to strengthen relationships in family and in love. The only thing, which could be a problem, is to communicate with authorities. Be careful how you talk to your superiors, it could backfire badly. Capricorn (December 22nd – January 19th) During the first spring month Capricorn, should be alert. March sets some unexpected obstacles for you which could throw you off balance. It is best for you to focus on long-term career goals. In this area, you have a strong chance to succeed, perhaps in the form of a promotion. Aquarius (January 20th – February 18th) Every Aquarius should expect that approaching March can bring them trouble in the field of relationships. At first glance, they can seem to be insolvable, but with hindsight you find that it was not as burning an issue as you thought. You find refuge mainly with your friends. Pisces (February 19th – March 20th) Don’t plan anything this month, because you have quite a lot to do to keep a close watch on your present life. Pisces have lots of work and family events and that’s why they don’t have time for other activities. In March you should determine your priorities and accept the fact you can’t always get what you want. Super Bowl Commercials: the Good, the Bad, and the Funny! The Super Bowl is an annual championship game of the NFL. The game is usually played one Sunday between mid-January to early February.

  • Polyphonic Spree Hallelujah Time Everybod
A high school production of Jesus Christ Superstar or annual Branch Davidian jamboree? Polyphonic Spree Hallelujah Time Everybody has voices in their head. Little angels and devils telling us to sing nice gospel tracks about God and videotape yourself having sex with your underage "goddaughter." For Tim DeLaughter, it wasn't a voice so much as a sound. The sound he heard made about as much logical sense as "If you build it, they will come" but has had nearly as magical effect on those who've witnessed his musical equivalent of a baseball diamond in a cornfield. Like anyone who has had a song lodged in their head, no matter how much you like it, it becomes a nuisance after while—backseat driver to all the other things you'd rather think about. A soundtrack that fits on one side of a 45 and loops the last groove into itself. You'd do anything to get it out of your head. So, DeLaughter did something remarkable. He rounded up a posse, and gave birth to one of the more intriguing musical phenomena to hit the scene since Parliament. This is the story of a troupe of 24 choir-robed freaks called the Polyphonic Spree. You might have seen them on the MTV Video Music Awards, introduced by Marilyn Manson who claimed the band was the love child spawned by him and co-presenter Mandy Moore. Maybe the news clip about the mic that was mistaken for a pipe bomb and shut down a major airport. Perhaps you caught them when they opened for David Bowie on his recent tour.

  • Frankenstein
Frankenstein Frankenstein by Mary SHELLEY retold by Patrick Nobes 1 'Captain! Something is moving on the ice. Look over there!' The sailor stood at the top of the mast, high above the Captain. His hand pointed away from the ship, across the miles of ice that covered the sea. The Captain looked to the north, where the sailor was pointing. He saw something coming fast towards the ship across the ice. He put his telescope to his eye, and through it he could see the shapes of ten dogs pulling a sledge over the ice. He could also see the driver of the sledge − a huge figure, much bigger than a man. The sledge came nearer and nearer to the sea. Soon it was only a quarter of a mile from the ship. No one needed a telescope now to see the huge figure of the driver. Suddenly the sledge went behind a mountain of ice and disappeared. At that moment another sledge appeared. It, too, was moving fast, and was clearly chasing the first sledge. This driver was a smaller figure, more like an ordinary man. Faster and faster the dogs ran; then the second sledge also disappeared behind the mountain of ice. Two hours passed. The sledges did not appear again. Nothing moved on the ice. Soon night came, and in the night there was a storm. In the morning, the sailors saw that great pieces of ice were floating round the ship. Suddenly the sailor on the mast shouted again. `Captain, I can see a man on the ice.' The sailor was pointing to a piece of ice that was floating near the ship.
